Dad still kissing me.....

I'm 39, and I hug my father and kiss him on the head or cheek whenever he leaves after visit. He had a tough battle with cancer a few years ago, and I consider myself very fortunate to be able to do this. I love both my parents up whenever I can. I just want to make sure they know how much I love them and am grateful for everything they have done for me.

tell him it makes you feel like a little kid and he doesn't have to physically show his love for you with an awkward kiss...how about a hug instead..

You are one of the lucky few. If it's a kiss on top of your head, that's cool. My mom always used to tell me to hug and kiss your kid every day, even if they protest. I still do it to my adult children. They used to protest but not anymore. They miss it when I forget a couple of days.
You just don't know what you have till it's gone. My parents have been gone for 10 years. I miss it.

this is fine one day u wont have him and u no how much u will want a kiss off of him and if u tell him to stop u will hurt his feelings enormously and when he does cross over u will feel very very bad for doing so

you should seriously just let him know kindly that you appreciate that he loves you and that you love him too but you just don't feel it is necessary for him to kiss you anymore.please show it another way such as hugging..or giving me money!" lol that last line was a joke but you can tell him something nice like that

It's better than having a dad who thinks he's such a hard ass and just shake ur hand all the time!! If it's on the cheek or forehead Wats so wrong with that!

Talk to him about it. Talk in a patient, non judgemental way when he is in a good, relaxed mood.

I'd rather do that than how I haven't said a word to my dad since august.

But are you still acting like a little kid? Even just a bit? Just asking, not making any presumptions. If yes, then this might be the reason he still thinks of you as his little kid. If not, then I really don't know why he's doing it :/
