Crying about ghosts

Whenever I watch/read/hear about ghosts or paranormal stuff.. my eyes begin to water. Not like im upset and burst into tears, just like they water no matter how much I try to stop them. I'm not scared of the subject, and I've never had an experience/contact with ghosts. I'm just hoping that there's other people who do this and I'm not completely weird. Is it normal?

This also happens to me. As a 25 yr old male it tends to be very embarassing. But its only the realness aspect of it that gets me. I love horror movies. They dont bother me at all. But watching paranormal events on youtube and things that i watch or hear about real life from real ppl does. Id really like to know whats going on. I have a theory that nobodys comments have yet shed light on. Every account ive read has said that children are really susceptible to the paranormal. So with that being said... my theory is that we have (those of us ghost cryers) experienced something when we were children that has instated a form of trauma inside our minds that has been locked away inside our minds and behind that door is something trying to remind us of something (hence the tears). Has anyone thought of seeking answers from a professional?

My mom told me she had a dream when i was born, and i was sitting in a corner on the cealing, and i was glowing. Also, alot of paranormal activity happend there. My uncle saw a showdow ghost, which haunted him when he was young. It also looked through his jounal, which he said was full of his experiences of ghost. And he also was haunted by a gremlin like creature which had glowing eyes and growled at him. My other uncle died there, in the house, and my grandma died 8 months later because of breast cancer. Also, once i was at her house, and i could hear foot steps from the hall way and every one was sitting in the living room. that was really the only time i've had a ghost experiance. im only 13 though, so something will probally happen again.

EDIT: I just remembered, one time i was sleeping and my grandma told me she has a new home. Then i woke up. This happened about a month after she died. Also, she died the day john lennon was born. What was weird, was that a second after she died, a radio turned on by itself and a beatles song started playing.

Whenever I would watch/see or hear anything about ghost my eyes would get watery not like I was crying or felt anything emotional. To this day my eyes still do, I've had two experiences with ghost. One where I've seen my great uncle (who had recently passed) in my kitchen getting a drink and smiling at me. And another in that same house where I heard and seen a little girl in playing in kitchen. At the time I was unaware of that fact that a little girl had died in the house across the street from me years before and she had burned to death in the kitchen.

You might find subconsciously you aren't blinking enough when your thinking about it for whatever reason (fear/being immersed in the story etc), hence the eye watering.

I think this is perfectly normal. I recall experiencing this when I first became interested in ghost stories. The most extreme of my experiences with this was when I personally had an experience that I could not possibly explain where a lamp in my room turned on while the door to my bedroom opened. I was in a state of icy disbelief and my eyes completely welled up with liquid. Not necessarily out of any sort of normal emotion that brings on tears, it was just like my brian was trying to comprehend something outside of my realm of normal understanding.

Anyway, good to know I'm not the only who's experienced this response.

    • Rockalypse,

Having the experience that you just mentioned is a lot better an seeing a decomposed looking man creeping closer to your bed side out of the side of your eye. Or seeing a solid black (ebony) figure siting in your computer chair when you are alone at home (in the day time) I did not see this out of the side of my eye, I was staring straight at it. Or seeing the laundry room door being closed by a ebony colored hand. I would like to trade my scary experiences with the one you just mentioned.

This always happens to me and it happens when i watch something with ghosts or other paranormal stuff in it or if I read something also if someone tells a story I've seen a ghost before when I was like 13(I'm 15 now) but even before that my eyes would water it doesn't happen to anyone else in my family but some of my family members have seen ghosts and have heard stuff to do with ghosts like foot steps, closing doors, tapping on the walls but the weird thing is it's only all the girls in the family none of the boys we would talk about it during family get togethers and all the guy would say "oh this is a joke none of us guys hear or sees anything" I really what to know why this happens to me and why its only is girls who experiences paranormal stuff

I would like to relieve all of us who tear up by saying that this is due to anticipation and internal excitement when hearing about/reading about paranormal stories. I would assume that if you're one who tears up because of this then you must also thoroughly enjoy stories about paranormal things.

I have the same, also ONLY when I am telling a scary story, no matter if I have told it a hundred times, and I am not emotional about it, tears just run uncontrolled. I was once told by a neuroscientist that it might be a form of synesthesia. "a neurological phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway." so some people see colored numbers, and some cry when they tell scary stories. don't know how much truth is in that theory, but it somehow made sense to me.

Well, I also do cry when I watch paranormal show. Without any feelings.
I am an extremly sensitive person, so I thought it was because of that.
Call me crazy: I think it's because we may have experienced paranormal at a young (doesn't have to be traumatic) or because we are "old souls".
I have had a lot of peopl telling me that. I don't really believe it, but it might explain it.

I am a 29 year old male and this has happened to me as long as I can remember. I love horror films and I'm very curious about the paranormal, however creepy stories, or situations, even television documentaries on the subject can send tears running down my face, with no emotions backing them up. Around a campfire with a bunch of friends telling ghost stories? Forget it, I'll be sobbing and sniffling, and it's very embarrassing. I've always wondered why I do this. It's nice to find people online to relate to, because none of my actual friends share this with me. I've been trying to dig in my past to find some sort of causation, but so far to no avail.

I'm 27 and am exactly the same. It only happens when a person tells a story that seems credible. Lol. Never had a ghost experience and really don't even believe in them. But something almost chills me to the core about a personal ghost story. I also almost instantly stop a ghost story and warm that I'm going to start crying if it's a good one.

I also experience the same thing,I even thought maybe I have some connection with ghosts.when I was still young I once experienced this nightmare where there was this Ghogo(an old woman) strangling me in my cot,and I screamed and when I was awakened my neck was red and it felt so real.I told my parents and they said it was just a dream.I am not sure if that's what makes me cry whenever I hear of ghost stories...

Wow! I've never had this happen, but it fascinates me. I have had experiences where my body is showing the physical signs of emotion when I wasn't aware that I was feeling that way--blushing when I don't really feel embarassed, palms sweating when I don't feel nervous, eyes watering when I don't feel sad--but ghosts, huh? That's fascinating.
