Cousin unsure of sexuality

My cousin is 17, she's had one boyfriend but recently told her parents she's unsure if she's attracted to boys or girls. Her mom is freaking out, won't consider the possibility of a lesbian daughter. They fight so much and the girls depressed mostly because mom seems disgusted by this. Isn't it pretty common for teens to go through this? She's s great student and artist , I think her mom is making things much worse by being so I accepting. I wouldn't care if my child was gay as long as they were happy.

    Would've been wiser if she came out when she knew 100% her sexuality. As for her parent, she most like harbor the old generation thinking that being gay isn't right, which it isn't. But back then it wasn't acceptable. Parents need to accept it, doesn't mean they need to like it.

    I don't think the mom "believes" in gay, she thinks its a phase or something. Im not even supposed to know but my boyfriend saw them in the hospital cause he works there. I wish they would tell me cause Id like to help but Im not even supposed to know. I feel bad because in this day and age, being gay is supposed to be accepted.
