Conjoined twins: what if 1 wants to get wasted?

I was just thinking about conjoined twins, and I've seen all types of documentaries about how they do things, how they work, how they have a relationship, and all the other normal topics.

But, what if one wants to drink or get high? They never address that.

How would they even decide? Is it up to the one who has control of the liver?

You'd have to think, there would be times in life just like any normal person when this would come up. 21st birthday, wedding, parties, etc. They're still people that get into all the ordinary people experiences. Say they agree to drink at a party and one really, really likes it and wants to do it again? It HAS to happen!!

There's probably no conjoined twins on here, but let's discuss it anyway.

is it normal to wonder this?

    I don't blame you for wondering as it is very interesting. It's two distinct personalities that are attached as one. I'm sure that they won't always be in agreement and the ones that do disagree would probably end up fighting over it... Which would probably be very awkward because usually in arguments we get so angry at the other person that we don't want to have anything to do with them, but because they're conjoined, they can't get that alone time.

      You raise a good point. Although I would assume, cojoined twins would not think the same way we do. They are two distinct personalities, I agree there, but being cojoined would mean every decision they make would have to be mutual and would always be curtious of the other sibling. Hmmmm, interesting.

    I wonder about them too. Like what if one was gay and the other one wasn't, what would they do then?

      twin studies show that identical twins are more likely to have the same sexual orientation as the other because sexual orientation is genetic. Its possible they are different but highly unlikely.

    Well considering most if not all conjoined twins share their blood system in some form, I wouldn't be surprised if one of them consumed a drug/alcohol and felt the effects.

    If one gets drunk, they both get drunk. If one has sex they both get the after-effects of orgasm.

      I know this. The desire to get drunk could most definitely be singular though. The desire to get drunk or high could easily overpower any established 'respect' between the two as well.

        Yeah, sorry, I didn't really answer your question very well. Their names temporarily escape me but there was a set of conjoined twins where one was an alcoholic and the other didn't touch it. They had massive rows about it.

        Worse, when the alcoholic twin died (due to his alcoholism), doctors fought to save the other but he died the same day too.

            Chang and Eng were the two I was thinking of. The main reason I remember them wasn't the alcoholism but that they had a stage show. One of them got a bit peed off at an audience member and punched him in the face. He was charged with assault but couldn't be put in jail because it would mean his brother would be falsely imprisoned. He got off free.

            But yeah, one of the two became an alcoholic. Oh and they had a ridiculous amount of kids. Something like twenty.

    Growing up a million times closer than twins, they would have learned to communicate respectfully to each other.
    I'm sure if only one would want to experience getting high, the other would agree to participate just out of pure respect and closeness!

    These types of mature sacrifices can also happen in close loving relationships.

    LOL the story of chang and eng seems a bit far fetched. It's th same as identical twins that didnt completely seperate so how can one be alcoholic and the other not? Same genetic makeup.

    I'd say it's normal to wonder that. I'm just starting to think about how they would smoke weed. Say both of them want to get high, would just one of them smoke because they'd both still get high, or would both of them smoke because one wouldn't get as high as the other if they didn't share. I don't know exactly how being conjoined works, but if they have separate lungs, i'd assume that they'd both have to smoke so it would be safe to say that one could smoke weed and the other wouldn't be bothered all that much.
