every time my dad tells me i'm smart i feel passively enraged. i know i'm not but he won't listen. i want to kill him. i want to lock him in our house with everything i think about him written on the walls. and then i will blow the house up.

You are deranged and have some serious anger problems. Get some help because you should not get this angry even if you disagree with the compliment. You sound like you are mentally unstable. This is a huge overreaction. Speak with your doctor or check yourself into anger management before you kill someone.
dude...find other better things to do..like playing ps2...reading in the library...watching oprah...or playing with your nephew...or accompanied your mom shopping...or becoming a buddhist monk...there are millions other things that is funner than becoming a dying junkies!!!
This might have to do with low self-esteem because people with low self-esteem tend to think that people are complimenting them just to make them feel better about themselves and aren't being truthful, which would piss some people off.

if you are a teenager this may be normal. in anycase you need to take care of your anger and try to understand the reasons behind it.
I know how you feel, ignore what other people are saying. My parents call me smart too, only if I applied myself harder. Other people don't understand the context our parents use it in, and how enraging it can be when your parents say they know what you can do, when you walk into that test day or what ever and you know you're only going to get like a 5%%. Just try to ignore them, worked for me.
Okay, you need to learn to take a complement. The rage in these situations usually comes from embarrassment. You probably don't think of yourself in the same way your father does (why would you?) Although I must say your idea to kill him speaks to something a little deeper. Think for a moment how do you and your father get on in general maybe there's a problem there?

you do that because when you hear to many positive comments that aren't true you start to get angry at that person it just that simple just tell him to stop and it should be fine
