Closing doors?

I have some weird obsession that when I am in a room, the door must be shut by whoever walks through it last.
Is this normal, or am I slightly obsessive compulsive?

i dont think its normal but my mom is like that, she gets pissed off if anybody leaves a door open in the house, cuz she says it bugs her seeing it open. i mean i automatically close my door when i'm not in it but thats only because so the cats wont get in or my sister, but that dont count

well if the person before the last person shut the door then someone would still be on the other side.. so i'm not sure how it could really work any other way :p

Everyone has some habits that could be described as obsessive-compulsive while not actually having the disorder itself.

I hate being in a room with the door open, even if it's just a cupboard door or something. My family used to think it was an annoying obsessive habit, but now it's rubbed off on them too! (laughs)

(PS: Don't self-diagnose using the internet, it is silly.)

u may have a MILD case of OCD but i do the same thing :P its just....the feeling of the door being open. i dont like it. i feel like anyone could walk in; my music or any racket i make will annoy other people (and vise versa). i think i just prefer to be in a determined space. i dont like having a door open because i dont know what might be beyond it - what could come thru. like my mother....or a spider -_-

For most people the term is obsessive compulsive. In your case, this is referred to as "Obstupidass Dumbpulsive"

Maybe you have a chemical imbalance, but I bet if you look a bit harder, you will find a some early childhood conditioning.

Be a rebel. Wait for that last person to enter the room and then close the door yourself! Don't let other people control you.

I dont have ANY internal doors in my house at the moment, not even the bathroom. Im hanging old curtains and duvets at the doorways instead!

  • Depends on if it is at your house or another persons because I don't usually shut my doors unless I'm in my bathroom or when I go to sleep. I think it would be kind of strange if a friend was over and you asked them to shut your door knowing they would be back in your room within minutes after doing something. To each his own I suppose.

It is kind of strange to ask people to do that. However, it has never stopped me from demanding that people shut doors when they leave the room (laughs)
