Is it normal that I think Trump voters are hypocritical if they go out and celebrate Cinco De Mayo, given how much hate Trump has for Mexicans/Latinos in general?

For cinco de mayo I went around giving people I know 5 jars of mayo today. I had a lot mayo and today was the perfect time to get rid of it all.
why would americans celebrate may 5 ? thats a mexican holiday. i have never celebrated it . what do they do ? cook a big dinner or dig a tunnel to the USA. inquiring minds want to know, if i turned on a TV the news would show a group elementary students whipping the shit out of a paper mache donkey , hell even they dont know what its for.

Mexicans actually don't go crazy and celebrate their culture on this date, apart from in the state of Puebla where they recognize the effort of the Mexican army to stop Napoleon's men from marching north over the US/Mexico border at the "Batalla de Puebla" on the 5th of May 1862, hence the name "Cinco de Mayo" (5th of May in Spanish).
Every other Mexican state doesn't celebrate Cinco de Mayo at all, which makes it all the more curious why the US adopted it as their holiday.
