God, no one picks normal names anymore. This "creative" name trend is just ridiculous. Vance, Miki, and Venita are just laughably horrible. Luna just doesn't suit me. My mother would say that Amber is a "stripper name". Please do not condemn your kid to a ridiculous name. Emily and Lily are the only acceptable names on this list, and maybe Luna. Venita is scarily close to "venuta" which means "she came" in Italian. That is not a positive thing.
Aww :( "Miki" is a Japanese name. I don't think it's horrible! Just from a different language.
My mother would say that Amber is a "stripper name".
Who are you? I believe I have stumbled upon comic genius...
<:o}
LOL as rude as this answer is, I agree totally. Stop trying so hard people.
Who made you the normal name police?
And "she came" sounds rather positive to me-and enjoyable. Not that I would name my child this. I'm amazed people still choose the name John when many use "john" to refer to a toilet.
I am happy I'm not the only one who thinks no one picks normal names anymore.
I know someone whose last name is "Prettyman". I told him that the ABSOLUTELY MUST name his kid "Avery".
Man, it would be fun to fill out tests with "AVERYPRETTYMAN".
I'm reading a book at the moment and, in it, an educator says that he can generally predict a whole class' exam results just based on their names (i.e. having never met any of them). Let me go and find my Kindle and I'll quote from it.
Okay, it's a long passage so I'll just quote the names:
Set A - Wayne, Tracey, Shazney, Dwayne, Liam, Sherry, Coyne, Ashley, Kyle, Jordan.
Set B - Mary, Joseph, Jonathan, Philip, Stephen, Michael, Jane, Andrew, David, Rosemary.
He gives plenty of reasons why Set A suffers academically and, of course, none of them are the name itself. However, it occurred to me while reading the book that people are going to stereotype based on a name and - for the sake of your kid - it might as well be a positive stereotype.
It's called "It's Your Time You're Wasting" by Frank Chalk. It's about the education system in northern England. I work in higher education in northern England and it's always useful to get someone else's attitude about why things are failing. Student attitudes have changed so much in recent years because we pander to them rather than do what's best for them.
Well at least there was no "Ladasha" or rather "La-a" names on the list.
Though personally I prefer Corrigan for a female name.
The Ladasha thing only seems to happen in America. Here, it used to be Victorian names like Prudence, Hortensia, or religious names like Grace, Faith, etc. For obvious reasons. Now it's things like Keisha or Anissa.
Slavery took away part of a person's name by forcing the slave owner's surname on the slave. To see black people confident enough to create names and tie them to their culture genuinely warms my heart. The names may sound odd to white folks, but thank fuck we're finally allowing people the same rights we take for granted.
For every Hank and Steve, we accept a Li or Chuong, an Alexei or Vsevalod, an Amit or Sanjeev. If we don't accept the names of a culture whose names we repressed, we deserve to be judged very harshly indeed.
Venita - sounds stuck up
Amber - sounds like a bitch
Vance - is a guy's name
Miki - is a misspelling or a Japanese girl
Luna - is a crazy Harry Potter character
Lily - is cute, but an airhead
Emily - beautiful, but common name
I voted for Luna because it means moon. My real name(not my username in here) means "halo of the moon", so that's why.
Lily because my daughters name is lillian and we call her lily for short :)
A name is a name... except for Blanket. That's not a name, that's a noun. :P
I can suggest a few for the trailer park we got on 16th ave - amber, cherry, candy, jenny, krystal, devon. see how much fun? Since your list has the most ridiculous hipster names ever, try some white trash names, it's so ironic!
I voted for Amber, it reminds me of ambra.. quite pretty.
than Luna is not bad, but I know one and she has dark skin and brown hair. i just don't think it siuts her.. so i would think about it before i gave my child this name..
Lily and Emily are pretty.
and if you want Miki, I would rather go for Michaela.
I'm lily and my sisters Emily their great names ;)
My brothers girlfriend if called amber, her sisters are ruby and sapphire I think it is quite cool
I don't like venuta and I think Luna is too dreamy.
I noticed "Luna" is getting the most votes. Wonder how many bronies are answering this poll?
I just learned the other day what a Brony is from a friend of mine. I asked if he was serious about being one. His words to me were:
"Hardcorde brony. If you don't like it, you can kiss my cutie mark."
Never seen the show before, but I imagine it must be some seriously awesome shit.
Oops, I assumed these were people names...if they're for a golden retriever then any of them are fine.
I think they're all dumb names BUT names should be chosen for what they mean to you. NOT will my kid sound cool with a really fucked up name.
Fucked up spellings suck too...
gynaphur, krystyna, Quyle...I'm a teacher and names like these make make me laugh... I can't wait to meet their parents:)
I don't know, but I like the name Lily. I tend to like flower names such as Lily, Jasmine, Rose, Daisey, Violet.
these names arent for a child. they're for my characters in my game and I think they're all nice. I'm just seeing which one got the best resonse. lol
Luna has some mystic qaulities. Rumoured that its mystic with powers of the mooon. I've seen a lot of luna's with white blue eyes. Gna be my daughters name for sure
