Children of mixed ethnicity

Walking home from work, I saw a Caucasian woman with a child of mixed ethnicity. That's so common here, it happens on a daily basis. However, on this occasion, both the woman and the child smiled at me very warmly and - being male and unattached - it crossed my mind to imagine myself having a role in their little family (if the father was off the scene, of course).

Then it crossed my mind that we'd be two Caucasian people with a non-Caucasian child and I wondered what people would think of that. I know Hollywood stars do it but they'd do anything to get noticed. For me, when raising a family, you kind of don't want your child being noticed all the time.

Would it seem odd to you to see a white couple with a child of a different ethnicity?

            How was I to know that someone else figured you out. You have only had this account about 6 hours and I haven't been on since late yesterday. How is that not having a mind of my own?         However I can just imagine what some idiots might say to a white couple with a mixed ethnic child.

        "Hey whitey! Who'd you steal that chocolate baby from?"
        "I guess the daddy ran out, huh?"
        "So how much are they paying you to adopt a foreign child?"

        Insensitive people piss me off. And even though they may not say these things, they're most likely thinking them.

    There's a family I see around where I work, they have a caucasian kid and a mixed kid. The parents are both white and the kids look roughly the same age. I assumed at first that the mixed kid was a friend visiting, until I heard him say mum and dad. Now I just assume he's adopted. They're a really sweet, loving family from what I've seen of them as we walk past each other now and then. Their circumstances are really none of my business.

    Not really. It's not uncommon in my country (USA) to see families with children that have been adopted from abroad or families in which one parent divorced and re-married a member of their own race or in which one parent had the child and later married a member of their race who adopted the child etc.

    It's not uncommon and I usually don't think much of it at all. I know that adoption agencies are very stringent in their requirements here and even good, normal, white-bread middle class Mommy and Daddy families get turned away maybe for a criminal conviction 20 years ago or a smudge on their credit report and have no choice but to adopt from abroad. It really isn't anything new.

    Why not just have your own children with a lady?

    You know the famous stars hype about adopting has always seem strange to me. Like they are giving their bit to the poor and advertising it! Why don't they just have their own children? Because they want to skip the 0 to 4 yrs stage? How strange, they are missing out on being a real parent.

    You don't need to look for a lady with a child already, unless you yourself do not want to go through that 'baby' stage? Single parents aren't off limits or anything, but if you fall in love with a single Mom, please note that the child ALSO requires some of that love and attention, it is expected.

    Children are not a novelty item, like that looks like a fun idea for the moment. They are as real as you and me, except they haven't grown up yet. When they eventually do grow up, will they be telling good stories about you, or will they be seeing you in court?

    A child deserves as much respect as an adult, just 'thinking' if it would be good or strange, as they don't look like you, seems cold and unloving to me.

    Yes, it would be strange. Simply because two Caucasians can't biologically have a child of mixed races. Just like two gay guys can't have a kid. It's something people think about, but don't ask about.

    why are you worried about what other people think? I have children of mixed ethnicity and the way I look at it is if a man doesn't want to be with me for the reason of how it would look that he can go fuck himself. I wouldn't personally want to be with anyone who cannot accept my children. children are innocent and very smart, and all should be treated with love and respect no matter what ethnicity they are.

    I'm Caucasian too. It's normal because we Caucasians have mixed ethnicity, some look Russian (Southern russia{where we come from} ) and some look Chinese. I look Russian(very pale skin,skinny,red hair) but i have Chinese eyes.

    People need to calm down. He is only asking your opinions. I definitely would think that maybe it is a child from a previous relationship or even adopted or family friend. The child could even be related because they are the aunt or uncle. No one knows until they ask the family. If someone even says something negative about them though, I feel they are judgmental and need to leave it alone.

    It wouldn't seem odd to me! At first glance, I would probably think the child is adopted...which, come on...even if that were the case, kudos to the parents for raising a child that's not their own. However, who people decide to have kids with is their own choice and I respect it one way or the other!

    hahaha come on if the child was black that does not mean it was of different ethnicity...its very common come here you will find it in every house ...ethnicity (as far as i know )does not go with colour its about culture and traditions ... that can be of different race.. well both can be even same .. its very much possible...
