Chewing on pine needles

Is it normal to chew on the end of a pine tree branch (the green part that comes in spring) when I don't have gum.

    Try birch resin, its pretty much what gum was before chicle was discovered in 1860.

    They even found a piece from 9,000 years ago with teeth marks in it.
