Chewing and eating frozen iced cubes (water)

During hot days, i have a tendency to chew ice cubes to keep my self very cool, energized and refreshed. Obviously it's like eating hard, cold frozen water instead of drinking it by mere liquid. I like the process of my teeth biting the ice-cubes and producing such loud crunches and the broken ice transforming into liquid which goes down my throat and going towards down my body, which in turn relaxes and cools my overall physical self. To be honest, chewing ice cold cubes feels much cooler & refreshed than drinking normal water that isn't cold and I highly recommend it to people who have very strong teeth that can handle frozen ice.

My jaw teeth doesn't feel pain at all and it is rather physically strong.Has anyone had this habit of chewing frozen watered ice-cubes? Is it normal or a relaxing to do such a thing?

Hey I love chewing ice cubes too! I always drink cold water, and cant stand warm water not even during winter.

I used to chew ice cubes all the time when I was a kid! I thought I was the only one who did that! I think I did it mostly because I liked hearing the crunch when I bit down.

It may be something called pica? I would chew ice, but I have tmj and my jaw can't handle it....SO depressing

I craved ice when I was pregnant. I'm sure it kept me hydrated quite well but it was the crunch I was obsessed with. I probably did have some missing nutrients or whatever because, aside from regular pregnancy food cravings (pickles and potato chips for me), I also constantly thought about eating pebbles.

I used to have a strong compulsion to eat ice too but for different reasons. I really craved the stuff. I used to have a weird habit but I found out the reason.
This is going to sound gross but I would take a sponge-I liked the coloured 'Spontex' variety (we get them in UK, not sure about USA) and give it a good rinse in hot water. Then I would soak it in cold water, put it in a dish then into the freezer overnight.
The next day I would take it out and then chew it! I loved tearing off pieces of the icy sponge with my teeth, chew it until no longer crunchy, then spit it out (never swallowing any of it). I did this every day for months, as well as craving pure ice. I had no idea why I was doing it until I had a blood test that revealed severe anaemia-borderline blood transfusion required.
One of the symptoms is 'pica', or the craving of non-food stuff. Google 'pica'.
As soon as the anaemia was treated, my cravings disappeared!

You are probably eating ice for different reasons, as you say, it can be refreshing ans satisfying but maybe it is worth seeing whether you are anaemic too.
