Change$$$$

I have this horrible habit of saving all my change; I put all the pennys in a separate jar from the silver change I have been doing this sh*t for almost ten years now. I look at it as challenge to see how long it will take me to fill up one of those 2 gallon mayonnaise jars and so far over the past ten years I have filled up 6 of them, they are so goddamn heavy I can't even budge them, and they are taking up space but I can't bring myself to turn the silver into green. I don't know what's wrong with me is this sh*t normal?

Dude... Maybe you should just stop buying so much stuff. Or go to the bank and trade your change in for gold coins. :D

    Dude,
I have the same issue. I seperate the browns from the shinys and keep them in empty deer park water bottles, the big 5 gallon ones. I've been doing this shit ever since my boss told me he filled one up with just quarters and he needed two other people to help him pick it up. I forget how much money he got when he traded them in. Right now I have 4 bottles that are filled up about halfway. Can't pick the bitches up by myself either.

  • I store up change but I get rid of it when I get too much

  • I don't like change. When I get change back for something I throw it on the ground sometimes. LOL.

    • You through change on the ground? In this day and age, I can't see anybody throwing any money away not even a penny I save all my change because it adds up to a lot of money over time. You have a small child and work at Subway so how it is you could through change away is beyond me.

Haha, I am guilty of throwing pennies on the ground or leaving it on people's desks. Or if I have the time I just hand it back to the cashier who either keeps it or puts it back in the cash drawer - sometimes they'll add it to the tip jar or I'll throw some change into the donation jar for kids.

You need to get off your lazy bum and take all 6 of those jars and have the money converted into cash...then like you said - since you are worried about having some extra change/cash for emergencies - get a fireproof/water tight lockup box and put the cash in that box and lock it up - put it somewhere where you might look for emergency items...but not somewhere where you can see it everyday. Make sure you wifey and kids don't know the combo...cause they will take the cash and wanna spend it. If it is just pennies...you know 1 million pennies makes 1 million dollars! If its all quarters...4 quarters make a dollar...do the math!

I think the most that I have ever saved up - was 10 dollars worth...course what did I do - I took it to the bank and got the cash and spent that cash in the same day. LOL.

        • Well, I already did I got sick of my wives nagging, so I lugged them into the bank one at a time they thought I was out of my mind. The end result was 7,286.00 dollars oh and 56 cents leftover; I could not believe I had saved that much change, I about shit. I thought I would have maybe a couple of thousand dollars I was pleasantly surprised.

I put the money in my savings account so hopefully by this time next year I will still have it barring any dire emergencies.

No and your arteries are likely thickened and have plaque buildups which will lead to your premature death.

  • Yeah but the problem is that my wife is on my ass to get rid of my change, she is pissed because it takes up so much space in the house.

I think of all that change as a "security blanket" in case I get broke and need some money. I know it sounds stupid but its one of my quirks.

Yeah, I do this too. Basically I'm just too lazy to trade it in LOL. Sometimes when I'm strapped for cash and I want to buy something small like a candy bar or a soda, I'll take it out of the change though.
