        • Generally people in place of "Uhm". Which means "I going to start a sentence, but I am going to pause to think a minute".

          I surprised you didn't realize this speech pattern existed. It's incredibly common.

            I just wanted to make sure since you made no mention in the topic post.

            "Uhm", "Er", "Uh", "Hmm". Slight pauses are the better option. It displays more confidence, is more persuasive, and more clear.

            This goes for the written word as well: good writing is lean and confident.
