Cant find a hairstyle

I can't find the right hairstyle for me. I got it cut a little while ago by one of my moms friends and she did terrible. I wanted layers and she cut one really thick layer so I've recently tried to grow it out. It's about to my mid back and I don't want it short. My hair is in the middle for thickness. I HATE NOT HAVING A HAIRSTYLE!

  • I think you need to get a mullet. Who's with me?

Neither can I. Have you tried Wikipedia's "list of hairstyles". They offer descriptions of the hairstyles along with photos. The last time I checked, they didn't have photos for everyone styles and some styles were without pages. If it isn't comprehensive enough for you, you be able to find another online encyclopaedia or there should even be books on hairstyles.

If you want to keep your length but kinda switch things up a bit you can get long layers with or without texturizing (ask the person cutting what the difference is) and I would recomend going to a cosmetology school to get it done. There are always teachers around that are well trained and have years of experience in being a hair stylist to help students, and you will probably pay a fraction of the price of a place like supercuts and you will at least leave with a decent cut for a cheaper price while helping out someone who is trying to learn. I'm a cosmetology student and the one thing I always wish for is for more people to come in for haircuts because we need so much more practice on that. Give it a shot, what's the worst that happens? You don't like it, you get it fixed in another salon, and/or wait for it to grow out and try someone or someplace else.

  • The decision is simple layers are always great but if u have straigt hair it is always long for brunnettes and medium or short layered for blondes which also works for dirty blondes as for wavy hair of all types go with medium then for curly or frizzy hair go short or almost medium so it's easier and more fun to style and medium is bout shoulders and short is almost at chin but a little longer and curls always need layers for more volume and texture
