Can you truly love animals while being a meat-eater?

I love animals (I believe they should be treated humanely and with loving care) but I eat meat. People say that if you consume meat, you don't really love animals.

    You can.
    Eating animals =/= hating them. It's the natural order. We're all a part of the food chain. Just as the cheetah eats the gazelle or the bird eats the worm, we eat other animals.
    Just recognize this and respect the fact that the meat you eat was once alive, and you're good imo.
