Writing is no different than, say, drawing or painting or anything. Each OP has his/her own style and interest. Can you recognize surveys posted by the same OP?

I change my style purposefully when I post something anonymously. The funny thing is, people have actually commented on my style in these posts, whether it sounds ranty, flowery, immature, informal, or overly formal, etc. I know what kind of vocabulary to use to come across a certain way. I know how to vary "emoticons", grammar, tone, spelling, idiomatic phrasing, and punctuation. You just have to pay attention to everything.

. . . I might seem like a very different person. There's so much you can employ above and beyond the content of your message to get into character.
So far, no one's correctly guessed openly any of the posts I wanted to keep anonymous.
