Can you have depression and not be sad

I just don't really feel like anything. I actually laugh and smile a lot (mostly to avoid awkwardness and appear friendly), but I don't really enjoy doing anything. I rarely ever cry or feel "sadness", mostly just extreme boredom.

For this I was told i have depression, but I felt very embarrassed as even while explaining it to the doctor I was smiling and at times laughing lightly when people say something fun

IIN?

Feeling empty or not enjoying anything could be part of depression.
That doesn't mean you have to act sombre all the time, or when talking to the doctor. Just be yourself, and don't worry how it comes across.
I'm assuming it's a problem for you, otherwise you wouldn't have seen a doctor. But if you don't think you're depressed, then I wouldn't take medication.
    **Just my OPINION.**
