Like in any situation, like you're eating at a restaurant and casually point a steak knife at your girlfriend during a conversation, can they just shoot you through the window?
Depends, have you been plunging it into your girlfriend's chest while you're speaking?

Go swing a knife at a police officer see if he will shoot, I doubt he would do anything unless you're African-American or Mexican.
There are a ton of white guys getting shot for swinging knives. The most common way to get shot is not following orders. Get on the ground? Dont fucking struggle. You will get a damn lawyer.

Side note: why the fuck do I see police shootings where the guy pulls a bb gun or a fake gun at a cop? You know full well he'll kill you and you cant put out the same heat because you have a fucking bb gun.
That happens, but you also see an man with his hands up, laying on the ground get shot.
Trying to defuse a situation with the police and his patient he is an Aid for.
Cause the patient was having a mental breakdown and the cop were compounding the situation.

Its a thankless job at times.
Its just painful to see the knee-jerk reaction to strike with overwhelming/deadly force over nothing.
Over a man with cell phone in there hand, over literal children with toy guns with orange tips on them
And with that reaction being disproportionately towards people of color because or a subconscious racial or social bias.
In America if you're black or brown you can basically get shot for breathing. Recently a black guy was sitting in his living room and the cop came in and shot him for nothing. He was watching TV nothing else.
I think a lot of of police do watch through restaurant windows to see if people are casually pointing knives at each other.
Shame cause one time I was at a nice restaurant and the waitress picked up a butter knife and was spreading butter on my roll and some damn cop just shot her through the window. Kind of ruined my steak.
Pigs do whatever they want because they are the ones who investigate themselves.
You could be Tased if they tell you to drop it and you don't. At least that's what I've learned on Youtube.
