Can't scream in nightmares

Whenever I'm having a nightmare, when I try to scream in my dream, no sound can come out of me. And sometimes it's like I'm paralized. I often wake up feeling helpless, wondering why I could not scream. Is this normal? Anyone else experience this?

This happens to me all the time. Also, I will fall off of something like a building and wake up breathing hard like it really happened. It's scary as fucking hell!

psychologists say those kind of dreams mean you are afraid of/fear you have no control in your waking life, so in your dreams you loss control physically.

What you're feeling is called sleep paralysis and is a normal part of sleeping for millions of people. During the rapid eye movement phase of sleep, your muscles go completely atonal while your mind stays wide awake. You may or may not be dreaming, and people can sometimes awaken in the middle of this REM sleep phase, and fear can be part of it. But take a deep breath and rest assured that this is normal. You might want to check your local library for books on this very subject.
