Can't drink soda?

So ever since I've had my first sip of soda I spit it out because the burn of the carbonation on my tongue is so bad. It's like an extreme burning sensation that hurts, this is the same with any carbonated drink.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I have the exact same thing. I've never had a glass of soda in my life. After the first sip I have to spit it out. I can't eat "hot" food either because it burns my mouth. It must be pretty rare -- I've only met two other people in my entire life who had this condition or whatever it is. Rare - but normal!

Its not a condition, have it too. For soda all u have to do is add a little bit of water n for things that are hot just wait for it to get warm iknow its a pain in the ass but you'll get use to it lol.

I have never had a glass of any carbonated drink. I dont understand how people can get it down. I was so thirsty as a kid and thought I would try the orange pop. Horrible taste and fiz. No way to quench my thirst. Then we use to go to drive in movies and my mother had to buy yoo hoo chocolate drink for me. The rest of my sisters and brothers drank pop. Then came my teenage years. No thanks not for me.I will have a slice of Pizza and a glass of milk.Even now I am leary of ordering a drink of Lemonaide. I went to Applebees and was so thirsty. One gulp and I sent it back it was made with sparkling water.I dont like carbonation,so you are not the only one.

A study shows that cells in taste buds that respond to sour stimuli also seem to be the ones responsible for tasting the carbonation's fizz. So may be those who cant drink soda have extra sensitive taste buds (ones that respond to sour stimuli). may be because .sourness always is due to low ph
weak acid are also sour and soda is also a weak acid
    carbonic acid
somehow i can not have sour things also. is it the same case with others too?

Eh, Depends on your taste buds. Yours seem sensitive, but mine are weak. I pile on so much salt, seasoning, extra everything etc to just get satisfied. Yeah you are blessed.

Certain people have an acute taste buds that go off when exposed to certain tastes. Sometimes these overpowered taste buds happen on just one thing, or it can occur on many things. Like, if I eat meat that is cooked just a certain way, my tongue will feel like whool. A recent occurence of this is when I ate some vennisen i must have grilled the wrong way. It happens to most people but a good number of these people never eat what triggers it.
