Can someone with asperger's join the military?
I'm wondering about this because I want to enlist into the Navy or Army when I'm older and in a better situation to do so. Is it possible or does the military ban Aspies such as myself?

"Get down you idiot they're going to shoot at us!"
"Down? No I feel fine"
*bang bang
Not really the best place for them.
People with conditions such as Asperberg's are ineligible for military service in the United States. I don't know why you asked people to vote on this question because the people who voted "yes" don't know what they're talking about. Call a Navy or Army recruiter and ask the same question you've asked here and you will be told the same thing I'm telling you.
If you have not been on disability for it, you are not on medication for it, you're not currently being treated for it, you can pass the ASVAB and the physical and you don't obviously act like a huge doof, you're in. They don't know what you don't tell them so uhh... don't shoot higher than "Secret" security clearances I guess.
They don't really let people with Asperger's into the military. BUT, if you can pass an extensive criminal and medical background check and a physical and psych eval, then they MAY let you in (but even then, it won't be for too serious of a job/responsibilities, or any combat). And if you are in the U.S., they are laying off people and cutting way back on recruitment, so only the best, flawless prospects may join.
You shouldn't be telling the OP things like this. I was in the military and people are turned down for conditions far less serious than Asperger's. When you attempt to join a branch of military service, you have to sign documents giving the military access to any and all medical records and if a person withholds information and it is discovered after the person has been accepted, he/she will be dishonorably discharged and in some cases, court martialed.
Well any type of disability/medical issues you have will cause you to be disqualified. However it is possible to get a waver. They do ask for medical when you sign up. A waver means you had something wrong but they let you in despite that. You can get dinged or a number of things. It also says you have to be a certain weight to enter. You can get a waver for these type of things as well. Things like poor vision is not always a disqualification. They just issue you a pair of glasses. If you are so severe you can not speak properly you are most likely not going to make it. If you have the mental reasoning of a 4 year old and are 18 well yes they would probably not let you in.
It really depends on the severity and whether or not your symptoms will hinder your ability to perform the tasks expected of you.
