Can money bring you happiness?

Of course, good health, true love, good sex, and loyal friends bring happiness. But money is a bit more unclear. Some people say yes it does, others say no way. What do you think?

Yes it can. 15

Health, love, sex, and friends may be better than money. But INVESTMENTS bring you happiness.

Don't know about bringing you happiness but it certainly can make life easier. Bills, trips, healthcare, gifts ect. If I had more money I could move house and that would make me happier. I'd like to give more to charity if I could afford, make somebody else's life easier.

        • You sound like benevolence makes you genuinely happy. While I only feel good by increasing efficiency. It's a difference in values.

  • Of course money can bring you happiness! For example, some of the things that bring people great joy can only be obtained through money, such as a much-needed holiday or a wedding ring.

Money magnifies whatever you currently are because it provides freedom. If you are already miserable, prepare to get a lot worse. If happy and content prepare to have a lot better life.

If a drunk or drug addict. Start digging your grave.

Yes it can. I'm an example of money bringing happiness.

The more money I have, the less I hate myself and the more I smile. I'm a car salesman and I have my own sanitation & gardening company. I rent a nice apartment for me and my girlfriend and I got three cars. I kind of hate myself, cause I'm nowhere near as successful as I want to be.
But the more money I make, the better I feel.

So chances are after a few years, more cars and the big dream... a yacht, I will be truly happy.
Couldn't think of a more pleasant thing than sipping Chivas Regal on the flybridge of my yacht, gazing at the sun setting over the ocean with my girlfriend next to me. Knowing that I have a big fat sum on my bank account.

Knowing my family is proud of me.
A self made man with more money than he knows what do do with.

It's really good to see that people on this site aren't jusrt plain delusional. Can money bring happiness? Absolutely, is it guaranteed to, of course not. But money is definitely a huuuuuge help in life.

    • 30% of people understand how to use money. They build a good life that ultimately brings them happiness.

I'd rather be rich than poor and miserable. Money can buy happiness if used properly. As far as sharing goes I have my list ready.

Unless you're an idiot, I don't see how it couldn't make your life anything but much happier. Having money means you wouldn't have to work at a shit job you hate for half your waking life. It baffles me how anyone could fuck that up. They don't even realise that the reason they blow it all on worthless materialistic shit is cos they're fooled by the corporations into wanting all that fucking trash in the first place. It honestly makes me angry how they have the nerve to moan about it afterwards, after wasting such an life-changing opportunity, while the rest of us are wasting away our lives on unbearable shit jobs.

PS. I think it's biased to use statistics about people who win the lottery that end up miserable, saying that it happens to so many of them and so would likely happen to you too, because every single one of those people had to be stupid enough to play the lottery in the first place.

    • Yes. Saw a TV show about Lottery winners. About one third of them feel scared and apprehensive about winning. They conscientiously invest in bonds, and tax deferred stuff. Soon they are living well and socially adjusted to associating with other rich people. These people are resilient with life style changes. The other two thirds blow the money, and then live miserable lives.

Y'alls have some pretty good options yerself. More of them possums, keg party for the kinfolk, and margaritas on the nekkid beach down in Mexico. Y'alls talk like you understand investing from the HNW point of view too.

The money wasn't the cause of their deaths but it obviously didn't bring them happiness.

        - and you yourself just admitted money alone doesn't bring happiness. There are other factors involved.

This post reminds me of the people I knew who got a lot of cash from a lawsuit or playing scratch offs. They burned through the money as soon as they got it and went back to being broke. Some were sad and regretted blowing through it because they were happier being able to get things they wanted. Some were genuinely happy it was gone because all it got them was their family members with unwarranted senses of entitlement mooching off them and making them miserable. I guess it depends on the person.

    • And the family. If I won the lottery, I would drop out of sight so my relatives didn't even know about it.

I'd do something similar. A good portion of my aunts, uncles, and cousins are just ghetto trash that leech off others.
