Can i get labiaplasty on the nhs?

So i've unfortunately always had a very long labia. I've spent hours reading peoples comments about large labia and labiaplasty. Despite all the comments saying i should love it etc etc i can't and i won't ever it is hideously ugly and seems to have got a bit longer so now it is actually uncomfortable constantly. I'm just wondering i've heard it is done on the NHS but extremely uncommon I'm just wondering what i would have to say to a doctor to be entitled to it? and also how to go about talking to the doctor because i really am very very self conscious about it? I have an appointment for next week but am absolutely terrified i will be turned down for it.. i can't bare living with this until i finish uni its preventing me from wearing certain clothing and playing certain sports :( not to mention how it effects me mentally... any advice would be greatly appreciated on how to and what to say to the doctor???

Hmm well it constantly rubs on clothing which honestly has started driving me insane. The underwear that usually effects it is I'm not really sure how to describe it but underwear where the seam inside isn't sewed down which is practicly everything although i suppose i could just do that myself and tight underwear or loose underwear because it gets caught out then i have to rearrange myself constantly. I actually feel like I'm going crazy because of it. Well repeated infection I definitely do get. Embaressed discussing this but have been checked for STIS so is none of that thought it was just regular thrush? although i keep taking the thrush medication and it keeps coming back which i don't understand as not sleeping with anyone at the moment and I'm in no way unhygeneic etc..

My mental state due to this doesn't even bare going into!! I thought id come to terms with it but i can't really deal with the implications its having on my relationships and self esteem anymore. And I completely agree men are evil. The nicknames and things they call enlarged labia i actually think when i look down at it,

Honestly i would be happy to pay except for the fact I'm a student at the moment so can just about afford rent!!

Well, you can't just come up with a story to convince the doctor. That'd be unethical. Plus, it's a medical decision. Also, you should be treated for an actual condition, not one you've made up. You could end up with something you don't want.

Some people suffer repeated infections and this is usually reason enough because it's a physical complaint. If your doctor considers it's affecting your mental state significantly, surgery (on the NHS) may also be offered. But there's a limit where things are cosmetic. The NHS would never offer breast augmentation for purely cosmetic reasons, for instance.

I'd consult your doctor, see how the land lies and if it's not possible to have the procedure on the NHS, ask your doctor what your options are for private treatment. You have the right to the treatment. The only sticking point is whether the NHS pays or not.

To finish on a positive note, the surgery is normally really successful and improves sufferers quality of life greatly.

I hope you find a solution.
