Can going to the movies ever not be a date?

I noticed something. Most of the time someone invited someone of the opposite sex to the movie its a date and they want to make out. My question is if the other person you going with is not already taken can it ever not be a date? or is this considered abnormal to society? I mean its stupid if you think about it because if you pay for a film don't you want to watch the film? Unless maybe its a bad movie.

No it cant unless your relitives 14

Just one side note....the cinema is a terrible place for a date, once you're older than 18 or something. It's for kids.

    • Yes? Unless I am using the wrong term. Everyone seems to understand the term when I use it. Something that seems to confuse people is "Im ditching" which sometimes is lost in translation.

I've been plenty of times, and they weren't dates. I usually want to see the film as well, so it isn't a great date place for me. And when it turns out to be a crap film, me and whoever I'm with tend to just start making jokes about it and try not to laugh too loud even though we're in hysterics.:D That happens a lot, although it's hardly date stuff.:P And now I really want to see a crap film!

Haha I'm really into movies, so if I want to make out with a girl I will purposefully pick a horrendous movie that I don't want to see, so I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. Haha a few times girls have said "thanks for a good night out, shame the movie was shit" haha

But to answer your question I have been to see movies with platonic chic friends simply because we both wanted to see the movie. There was never any insinuation that it was a date.

I hate the movies as a dating destination. I'm very vocal about that so any guy who's ever asked me pretty much already knew it wasn't going to be a date.

Movies these days pretty much suck. I'd be insulted.

I've gone to the movies with my guy friend before and it wasn't a date.

If anyone ever asks me to go to the movies with them with them as a date then you can bet that I won't be dating that person even if I politely agree to tag along with them that one time.

Generally speaking, going to the movies is one of the most awful things a person can do romance-wise.

Just out of curiosity, what happened to my second comment? Did the OP hide it? If so, why ask for opinions if you are going to delete the opinions you don't like? o.O

    • I did not do anything to them. If I deleted my reply to it the site probobly erased them both. I dont know why that happens on this website.

Oh, I see. Fair enough. It just seemed a bit odd is all. I didn't say anything rude or disrespectful in it which is why I thought it was weird that it was deleted.

        • If you didn't I would not have erased you. I dont erase a lot of comments. Though sometimes if I erase my response it erases all other responses. Which is annoying.

I only stated my opinion about the topic at hand. I never disrespected anyone so if you did misconstrue it as offensive then that's probably something that goes back to you (in which case you probably need to be more accepting of different views or reconsider posting on public forums). However, if it was only deleted because you deleted your response to it then that's fine. No hard feelings.

Going to the movies can be a date; but it doesn't have to be, obviously.

Have been out with girls to the cinema, even on a first date. It's a nice shared experience, and something great to talk about in the pub after.

You don't want it to be a date go Dutch which means each person pays his or her own way.

    • That makes it not a date?

Pretty much, and I would also suggest that you could tell the person that you think of them as a brother/sister. I tell that to guys a lot and so far so good.
