Can an individual control their own body temperature? iin?

Ever since I was little (about 7), I was able to produce this buzzing sound in my head, and suddenly feel a wave of warmth over me. I remember asking people, but everyone told me I was just making it up so I never spoke about it again. Now I'm 20, and can still produce the same amount of heat as before. Perhaps a bit more, maybe.

Anyway, all I have to do is close my eyes (it's harder to do while their open), focus hard, and concentrate and I'm able to produce a wave of heat over myself. It's not shivering, because that's the body's involuntary way of producing heat. No, I can do this on command, anytime I want. And I always have this fast wind sound to it. I used to call it buzzing, but it's more like a fast breeze going through your ear.

So, can anyone else do this? Is it even normal? If so, is there name for it?

I think it's normal! Ever heard of Tummo? It's a meditation practice that allows one to raise their temperature. Check it out.

Of course they can. What I do is jog on the spot and then as if by magic my body temperature increases

I've never asked anyone about it, but I can create warmth through thought as well. There is no sound involved to it, however; I just focus, change my position a little, breathe in, and feel the sensation surge from my core as I exhale.

Involuntarily, the warmth mainly appears when I feel ill or when the temperature is abnormal. Even if it's very hot outside, that sensation can sometimes sneak up on me. Not entirely sure if I meditate - if hypnosis and self-hypnosis count, then I do meditate quite often. Not all of them are for therapeutic reasons, though.

What is meditation, in terms of experience?

The meditation we do at Qi Gong is first to make sure the nine points of our feet are on the ground and our knees are screwed outwards, then the second thing we do is clear our minds and focus our breath on our lower dantian whilst holding a ball of Qi :)

Nice! (Note to Self: Find an image of Qi later.) Are you able to explain any subjective sensations or typical experiences during the meditation? That might make it easier for me to find a connection and relate despite our contrasting routines.

Lol, Qi is the energy inside you, there isn't actually picture of it, but what you can google is monks who throw pins through glass or smash marble slabs with two fingers this due to them moving Qi to different parts of their body. Most typical sensations include slightly sore legs as we sink lower in our stance and after about ten minutes of our arms out stretched holding the ball of Qi, which you have to visualize, you rub your hands together and then place your hands all over your face and neck and the feeling is electrifying :)

Sounds like an astounding practice! I'd never realized other people knew how to make shocks, too. I simply believed that one was all in my head.

I used to have trouble getting up and out of bed early in the morning, so eventually I'd thought up a slightly nerdy incentive: since everyone runs by tiny circuits of nerves and electric impulses, it might have been possible to focus a small portion of that impulsive energy to the spinal cord and "jolt" myself out of bed.

It's so invigorating knowing that there are people who do, in fact, think about and use these sorts of ideas. Although it sounds stereotypical to ask, I'm openly curious to know: Has your group moved a physical object with Qi alone? I'd experimented with this about two years ago, but I'm still skeptical about the root of its eventual success. :/

I'm not sure about moving objects. I've heard of it being done, but never seen it. But what I have seen a monk putting his Qi into water and boiling it :/ That was freaking insane.

    That's awesome!

I think it could have something to do with psychic/paranormal abilities. I think you should look into that:)

  • Wow, you sound like you have super powers. Are you perhaps a basement dwelling comic book reading nerd who thinks that by concentrating hard enough they can actually change core body temperature?

I sense great virginity in you my young padawan. Great virginity.

      LOL

If I thought I could, then I wouldn't be asking this. It's the matter that I can, and if it's normal or not that I'm more worried about. But, thanks for the laugh. :)
