So British people would you get upset if someone assumed you were Australian? If so, why? This guys wife got mad cause I thought her husband was Australian. Excuse me there's like 50 different dialects and I'm no expert. He sounded like a low class criminal Brit:)
that's what Australians basically are anyway, descendants of British convicts.
I believe the correct term for the guy's wife is "whinging POME" (Prisoner of Mother England).

Yes it's normal. I have lived part of my life in Australia and sometimes go there for conferences. 90% of the people there are low class criminal Brits with cockney accents.
