Bribing friends with compliments and gifts?

I've had many friends throughout the years, but they never seem to stay in my life and the common denominator is myself and my actions. I think my friendships seem to end because I subconsciously bribe them with compliments and gifts in exchange of their loyalty and dedication.

The thing is I have always been a very generous giving person and also a complimentor from birth, so its not like I am being someone I'm not, but how can I make+keep friends for longer periods of time?

dont try so hard and tone the gift giving down or at least wait a few months to see if they are worthyand let them give back to you

Some people may feel uncomfortable about taking so much from you and unwilling to reciprocate quite as much which could leave them with a constant sense of obligation and feeling a bit guilty about the imbalance in your friendship.
I think since you're aware of your excessive generosity, you should be able to curb it a bit more.
As a root cause I suspect low self-worth. Is it possible that you feel you're not enough the way you are as a person?

Allow them the opportunity to do the same for you. Everyone likes to feel needed, even your friends.
