Boyfriend cheated on me

So the man I been dealing with off and on for the past year, just completely broke my heart. I found out he's been cheating on me with a woman he acted like was his cousin. He brought this woman around me about a year ago and introduced her as his cousin from Brazil. He's Brazilian as well, so I believed it. She didn't speak a lick of English but he'd be there to translate for us.

After the first time meeting her, I hadn't seen her again until around a month ago. He told me she was going to move in his place because she can't afford to leave on her own anymore. I wasn't happy at first because we've made plans to move in together but now this threw a wrench in our plans. He told me I was selfish and that "family is most important", and that I should be a little bit more empathetic. I got mad and told him fine, do as you wish but don't talk to me.

He didn't call or text me for over a week. I'm stubborn and so is he. It was hard for me to put my pride aside at first but then I knew that he's way more prideful than me. So I hit up and didn't get a response. I sent a couple more texts and 5 hours late, still no reply. So at this point, I decided to go check up on him at his apartment. At about ten at night I came to his building and tried the buzzer, there was no answer. I waited until someone came in the building so I could get through. I knocked on the door, no reply. So I used the spare keys he gave me and when I opened that door, I could hear music playing in the bedroom.

I tried to open the door but it was locked, so I started knocking. All of the sudden the music stops and I hear a lot of shuffling around in the room. Instead of opening the door, he's yelling at me asking why I'm there. Told me that the spare keys are only for emergencies all kinds of shit. I started pounding the door, telling him to come out and face me because I'm not yelling at a door all night. After like five minutes of arguing, he finally opens the door. I noticed the smell first, smelt like sex in the air. Then I noticed his shirt was inside out and backwards, his face was sweaty as fuck and I saw panties on the ground. He literally tried to cover it up by attempting to kick it under the bed. He should've kicked it further cause I caught that shit instantly. Anyhow I pushed him away and walk in the room, I went straight for the bathroom. The bathroom was locked, that's when I knew a bitch was in there. All hell broke loose, we started physically fighting. I was biting him, ripping his hair out, clawing him. I became a beast and I wanted blood to be shed. The bathroom door ends up opening and his "cousin" comes out in just a bra and towel around her. I blacked out after that, the last thing I remember doing was slapping her upside the head.

Now I'm facing assault charges and she's supposedly his witness now. Both of them filed charges on me. This all happened like 3 weeks ago. I've never felt so low in my life. I haven't even left my home for days. I only leave to gather basic necessities.

I just want to know if you guys think my reaction was over the top because I've never snapped like this before. The people we know are starting to look at me different because of his mean ass FB posts about me. I'm honestly ashamed I reacted like that, shows a lack of dignity. I know I wrote a lot but I just needed to vent. So if you read this in its entirety, thank you.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

So you are not in jail yet? Or they have Internet there and you are writing from there?

You reaction wasn't exactly "over the top." I'm not sure if this is what happened, but I know some people(my mother and her father included) when they get ticked off enough, they'll blackout. They won't remember what they did, and will usually have a whole different story than what really happened.
Iv'e seen one of them before with my mother, and had been kicking, biting, and screaming, and then drove off to my grandmothers to calm down. But all she had told the police was that they got into a really heated argument, but she doesn't remember anything after that.
I'm not sure if this is what you experienced, but all I can really tell you is to get yourself a really good lawyer, and make sure to read all the laws and charges of city.
