Boss doesn't socialize with me(but does others)

I've been working at my current job for about a year. I'm an introvert so I don't talk much. A couple other people around my age started the same time I did. One of them is pretty extroverted and talked to my boss relatively frequently and built up a rapport. That's all well and good but recently I've tried to start building a rapport and being more social. My boss doesn't talk to me though.

This would all be fine and I'd just assume he was busy if it weren't for the fact that he takes time to stop by my co-worker to talk to her. I don't expect him to stop by and talk to me given my relative silence but the bothersome thing is when he stops by for something work related any time I try to start a casual conversation from it he seems really rushed and busy. Even if we walk together and I try talking to him he will talk but the moment we get where we are going it feels like he blows me off.

Is this normal. I don't think I've done anything to offend him. I just don't get why he has time for a coworker on the same level as me but completely blows off any casual conversation from me.

PS: There is absolutely nothing sexual going on in regards to why he talks to my female co-worker. So I'm not looking for any of those 'theories'.

You are probably better off, so rather than let it bother you, appreciate it. If you don't chit chat with the boss, there's little chance you'll say something "wrong" that will put you on his bad side. Consider it a blessing instead of a curse.

No it's not normal, I am a quiet introvert too, and my boss at my last job was the same way. It really pissed me off

I don't like socializing too much with people I do business with. I wouldn't mind it if I were you, you probably haven't been sociable all the time and your sudden interactions probably unsettles him. However, if you're adamant on going along with it, try providing your input casually here and there. You shouldn't care that much about who he gives his attention to, focus on whether he's doing his job properly.

Youre not missing anything, your boss is probably subconsciously judging those people on how they act outside of work. Just let it go.
