Born and raised in the west, yet extremely homophobic

I'm not minority or migrant cultural background. Totally average. When raising me my parents used to be moderate, tolerant atheists. My father even used to be a fan of Fredy Mercury. They later converted to Christianity and are still tolerant. My mother who is more devout says 'Gays just haven't developed attraction to the opposite gender, that's their own problem, it does not concern us.' I myself am not a follower of Christianity.

And I'm so homophobic even ISIS would look moderate next to me. Srsly, I think they were too humane and respectful during the executions. I watched them with delight yet if I was there in charge, I'd have employed more.. creativity.
I have a gay coworker who's such a piece of shit I'd like to kill him any time. When I see gays in public or happen to communicate with some on the net they get me so riled up I want to push them down and stomp their heads.

    Your coworker may be a piece of shit, but his sexual orientation has nothing to do with that.

      IIN PSA: White straight people are not the only source for psychopathic persons. To think so is inherently racist/heterophobic

      Left out sexist because the majority of violent psychopaths are male.

    The preacher or politician who rants and raves about homosexuality and then, years later, is either outed as gay or publicly acknowledges his homosexuality is a cliché for a very good reason.

    Researchers have found that men who score high on homophobia also tend to physically respond to homosexual imagery much more than heterosexual men who really don't give a damn if some guys are sexually attracted to other guys. Basically, many homophobic people are dealing with an internal conflict between who they're attracted to and who they believe they should be attracted to, they hate the feelings they have and they turn that hatred outward.

    Anyone who is obsessively interested in the sexual preferences and activities of others needs to stop wasting time and energy on that and shift their focus to what's going on in their own life. Anyone who hates and wishes violence to be inflicted on others due to their sexual orientation, skin colour, religious beliefs or any other matter of genetics or personal choice when those things have no effect on them is a hateful person deserving of only contempt.

      I used to know somebody from an old job that was the perfect example of this. Constantly talking about how he could get any woman he wanted (While never actually in reality ever getting one single number that I saw) Loved women, loves sex with women, isnt gay, DEFINITELY NOT GAY. Guy talked more about men having sex than any actual openly gay man I ever met. You couldnt eat a hotdog around him without him making some comment that eating hotdogs is gay because it reminds him of sucking penises, and obviously his sexual confusion regarding deli meat makes OTHER people the gay one.

      I kind of learned something from it, if you hate gay people because of some religious thing or because you were taught to, you're just a hateful ignorant person. If you're actually Homophobic, as in you have a phobia that there are a bunch of gays out there trying to turn you gay and you're afraid of winding up having gay sex with one of them, you're definitely in the closet.

      Straight dudes don't spend time looking at naked mens pictures, but dudes who get really freaked out at seeing another man naked are feeling things they don't want to admit they're feeling.

      "If you want to really be straight like me you have to avoid the constant temptation to have sex with men" is the gayest mindset possible.

          I just thought of that as an example cause this particular dude was WAY overboard with the convincing people he isn't gay. I used to purposely say vaguely gay things to him cause I hated him and it was fun to watch him freak out (You know its not gay to have gay sex if you don't enjoy it, that's actually the straightest thing possible)

          He seemed to have this idea that not only was being gay a really disgusting morally wrong thing, but that everyone else on earth was actively feeling urges to do gay stuff and the ones that are actually gay just gave into temptation because they're weak or something. There were times it was more obvious than others where you could tell what he's saying is "Im proud that I resist my gay feelings"

    What about Overton window? Don’t you think that making this a norm might lead to more important consequences. For example, legalising homosexuality has been historically tied up with leftism and progressivism which you probably don’t like if you are from such a family. So this degree of homophobia might not be normal (especially for modern western society), but it’s not something bad to be different when most people are stupid

    I am a bit homophobic too, when i see a guy talking so femenine and shit, it just makes my blood boil, they are fucking ridiculous.. I dont go to the point of wanting to kill them, but i see them as stupid and dumb.

    it's not normal for anyone to be THIS homophobic, whether you came from the west or the east. You need to understand you have some serious problems and need to get help. to walk around thinking of stomping the heads of any people in itself is already very concerning. I don't understand why you would care so much about what others do that doesn't concern you.
