Hi Mr. Alien, welcome to earth. A world where people murder each other over religion and worry about the colour of a dress.

I come here from facebook, and its a topic here too. How disappointing.

Anyway, the actual dress has been confirmed to be blue and black, but the lighting as well as possibly photo shopped to distort the colors to appear lighter than they are.

Also people will see it different because their screen contrast may differ. People all have different amounts of cones and rods in their eyes, which cause everyone to perceive colors slightly different. In fact most people see slightly differently out of each eye.

All black items are actually a really dark version of another color, because pure black is absence of light and cannot exist in the presence of light.

To me it looks yellowish brown and whiteish blue, which is how I perceived the pixals on my i-pad.

All the worlds problems and we are fixated on a dress.

I see both but I have to squint and stare at one of the stripes to see black and blue. I find it more interesting that this is so popular.

When I set my mind to it, I can see either. If you see black and blue try watching it against a black/dark background, that should help.
(Protip: the black becomes gold and blue becomes white.. took my smart ass longer than I'd like to admit to realize that)

Black and Blue? I think these need to get their eyes checked! The dress is gold and white to me, with a slight bluish cast on the white parts. I think the bluish cast I'm seeing may simply be a shadow.

It's black and blue, it's been comfirmed by the woman wearing the dress, I saw it today on the news.

White and gold first, read the news stories about it and was confused at how people could see black and blue. Then suddenly I saw it as black and blue. Now when I look I see it white and gold first and then it changes back and forth right before my eyes...freaky.

I see white/very pale blue and gold in the original photos i saw. I just can't see it as black. The pic you posted is different from the one I saw, which was cropped. The pic you posted, is blue and black. The video is blue and black initially, but then white/pale blue and gold for the rest.

It's weird and im not convinced the two photos on the link in comments aren't photo shopped.

Also, I should have actually clicked your links without assuming and then I wouldn't have had to edit.

Black and blue

Black and blue, the blue is blue I can't imagine it being white. But the black for me is weird... it's not pure black, but as if it has a gold tint?

It's white and gold.

Also, I don't believe that the actual dress is blue and black. I've seen the pictures of the dress people are saying is the same as the one in the original picture, and I'm not convinced. Why? The original dress is far darker than the one in the picture, to the point where you can't turn its black into gold by shining some convenience-store lights on it, nor can you just turn up the brightness in photoshop and have it change colors.

Until someone gets a video camera, gets the black dress, and displays it in such a way that makes it turn white and gold, I don't believe it.

i never got the doubt until now. When i first opened the page, the dress was clearly black and blue but when i put my computer screen down and back up again, it was white and gold and it never changed back. Not even when i closed the page and opened a new one. It's so weird, but i guess it's white and gold.

I saw black and blue. My sisters saw other colours. Yesterday I was like, "OMG! WTF!"

Black and blue but looked white and gold first... And sometimes the black looks dark green or orange.

It's definitely blue and gold. I don't see how that would make someone colourblind or a hipster. Just go on Photoshop and do the colour identifyer thing and you'll see that.

How are people seeing black?? It's gold/brown on my laptop screen, my phone and my tablet. I'm literally not seeing black!! That photo is popping up on news every site I go to, it's crazy!

I see gold and silver. I don't see black or blue. I think people are color blind because that photo looks like it was taken with a strange saturation filter or w/e. It may really be black and blue but it APPEARS gold and silver. How can people see the real color? They probably see gold and silver too but because they discovered the real colors, they just say that to confuse people.

Btw, that link you gave above is NOT the photo that was posted all over the net/on the news. That photo shows the dress in full color but the other sites show a silver/white and gold dress. Because with that link, I see black and blue.

That is not the same photo and appears gold and silver but your photo and that video is normal saturation or something because it brings the colors back and makes it black and blue.
