    Oh wow, I am the only Robert Jordan fan here? It's too bad he died before he finished the Wheel of Time series, but his replacement and wife did a great collaboration to finish with his outline. I strongly recommend the series.

    I'm so glad you had Piers Anthony on here. His Xanth series are my favourite. Although Douglas Adams is a really good author too. I love The Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy series.

    I love Terry Pratchett, Sam Bowring, Tom Holt...not sure Jasper Fforde is fantasy...have only read Gaiman in book he wrote with Pratchett, though it's in the 30+ book "to read" pile (because I liked Good Omens and also his wife is fuckin awesome).

    ...someone else I'm forgetting...blah. Pratchett was the start of it for me, though. And I'm not interested in fantasy books that aren't also humourous.

    Tough poll, i'm going with Stephen King. IT, The Stand, Under the Dome, the shining, the talisman, bag of bones, and firestarter, to name a few. The man can write.
