Best diet you've tried?

For different reasons I had put on extra weight and had tried to lose it for months. I didn't really have any motivation until one of my dear friends joked and called me 'Chunky Monkey'. That was it! I started the 'Lose 17lbs in 17 Days' and so far have lost 6lbs in a week! Are there any HEALTHY EATING diets that worked well for you?

Weight Watchers. 15

Slimming World 2

Well, you said it at the end of your little story. Healthy Eating, skip the word diet. For the most part, "diets" are for the birds. You just have to eat healthier and excercise. Its more of a new lifestyle. Even just walking or a bike ride most days is better than nothing.

I stopped drinking soda/alcohol and junk food for a month and lost 20lb. All I ate were turkey burgers really and only drank water.
I wasn't even trying to lose weight because I was comfortable with my body. It just happened.

As an former eating disorder sufferer, I have tried every diet under the sun. Most either completely malnourished me or were completely unattainable as a lifestyle.
I will say this though - veganism as a lifestyle change was one of the best things I ever did. For once I wasn't in it to lose weight, just to be healthy, and I think that's where I went right. I eat plenty of grains, legumes, nuts, fruit and vegies, drink lots of green tea and always feel satisfied. If you eat close to nature, you will feel the benefits.

The best diet I tried, eating less. Also, slim fast. Love that stuff.

Eating less doesn't help you lose weight. It puts your body into survival mode which makes it reserve the food and fat it DOES intake. Eating 5 evenly spaced meals a day boosts your metabolism which allows you to lose weight better.

WOOOOOW. Thanks for clearing that up for me because I TOTALLY didn't know that. You don't know what I ate before and after so don't be telling me that I'm starving myself. I used to eat a lot of fast food and junk food. I also had a lot of soda and sugary drinks. My strategy was to start replacing one soda or meal a day with something more healthier. I lost 15 pounds because of that.

Eating less just means less food intake. You didn't clarify. I'm sure OP was thinking on the same lines as me. Mention the fact that you replaced meals and didn't just cut them out completely.

eating less is great for you. it causes you to have more energy and live longer. most people would look better, have more energy, be healthier, leaner, and live longer if they ate less food. Not just healthier food, but less food.

what you're talking about is really an argument against starvation diets like the one our friend here is obviously on. In that context, i totally agree with you.

Haha thank you. But some people just naturally eat more because they have a higher metabolism. As long as you're not starving yourself eating less is alright. I think you should eat when you're hungry. No less and only more if you see something you just can't say no to. Like a brownie..

I didn't assume. I took the information that you gave me and came to a conclusion by what I saw. It is your fault for leaving out vital details.

You should eat one protein per your weight in lbs. And that with as little calories as possible... GO GO GO

N.B. When I say 'regime', I mean what most would call a diet. When I say 'diet', I mean the sort of food one typically eats, whther as part of a particular regime or not.

I've tried Weight Watchers and Rosemary Conley with my mum, various fad regimes under my own steam and Slimming World with my boyfriend (Although he's no longer on it right now).

So far, I would say Slimming World is working for me best, personally. Not so much because of the diet it advocates (I tweak that a bit to suit my personal wants/needs/hormones better), but because it actually feels like the people behind that regime genuinely don't mind too much if you go at your own pace and won't tut at you for not getting the 'right' numbers. Also, NOTHING is banned, certain foods are unlimited and it's a really flexible plan.

I've yoyo-ed a lot since starting it last Feb, but the very most I've lost thus far is a stone (Ignoring Christmas et al). If it takes me three years to lose two stone; hey. I'm learning along the way and I've lost SOMETHING.

I've never followed a proper diet. Whenever I feel that I'd like to lose a few pounds, what works for me is simply eating a bit less and cutting down on some of the unhealthier things that I like.
As a general guideline I like the Japanese philosophy of eating until you feel about 90% full. This prevents overeating as it takes about 15 mins for the brain to receive the signal that the stomach is full.

High protein, low sugars, low saturated fats. Plenty of oily fish and soya milk to get omega 3 and 6 in aswell. Although i work out a lot i can eat as much of the correct foods as i like and maintain 12% body fat. Theres a big difference beteween eating healthy and losing weight, take no-carbs diet for example yes you will lose fat but at the end of the day it is not healthy to starve yourself of a nutrient your body needs.

100 calories an hour until you reach your set goal for the day diet which kinda helped.

the one one was 3 years ago but not very healthy. you just dont eat anything until ur belly growls and eat a little bit then wait till it growls again. drink nothing but water and do exercises.

i did that for a week and a half. just about lost a pound a day because i kept myself busy with discovering a whole lot about the internet because i was still a noob at the time lol
