Being watched through my webcam, heard through my microphone

I constantly get the feeling that someone or something can see me through my webcam or hear me through my microphone (I incessantly chatter to those around me). It's really unnerving because I'm often compelled to move excessively to one side or put a finger over my webcam. I've even put at least five layers of black electrical tape over both of the devices (I took them off, can't remember why).

I'd like to know if this is normal behavior. The only reason I can come up with for this idiocy is my social stupidity and paranoia.

    I also forgot to say: scientists have PROVEN that intuition and paranoia are usually right. The human mind is so amazing that it can sense differences or unnatural things. So if you feel like you are being watched, you might be.

        This is possible if someone hacked into your computer and you have a camera built in or attached. So this is a real possibility. I myself have no camera so dont think it is possible for me.

        Just cover the can and unplug he mic
        It is known fact these thongs can be hacked. You don't have tone a victim. Take precaution

    Alex Jones once stated that the government actually watches and records video from your web cam, when it's turned on. Freaks me right out!!

      Good thing I don't have a reason to use mine. The only time I've used it was to check if I was visible on my computer as I bent the monitor back.

      But holy crepe, that's... unnerving. I suppose there's good reasons for it though.

    My friend's dad was/is like that. He insisted that the webcam should be unplugged and turned to face a wall when not in use.

    This is normal and I have an easy solution. Every time u get off the computer, disconnect the Internet connection. Without that there is absolutely no way someone could be watching u. Keeping an Internet connection up at all times allows hackers to get inside ur computer and turn the cam on.

    It's normal. And it sadly is possible. There are viruses that would allow a hacker to do that. It's unnerving, and another reason why I refuse to use a web-cam.

    Finally I've found someone that shares one of the same fears as I do! I have a piece of duct tape over my laptops camera, because my mothers (who is 80) , kindle got hacked and someone had been watching her for about 2 months so that gave me this fear... Its completely okay to be over protective of your belongings because things like this CAN happen , and its very scary !

    There was actually a teacher arrested for watching a little kid through a webcam. I don't know when this was but...

    it is bnormal to feel that and if u do feel that way NEVER turn your webcam on or as an alternative put masking tape on it

      I'd like to, but that's impossible. The devices are a part of my computer... However, it's alright now. I have some tape covering them.

    I don't have one, but I knew if I did I would feel the same way. If I got one I would unplug it or turn it around, or even put that sucker in a drawer until I needed it.lol. I know someone that has one and feels the same way. Totally normal.

    Lol I dnt think it's any big deal. I think every now and then everyone has similar feeling of being watched or heard. How could you not if you've ever seen a scary movie or read a scary story lol. At night sometimes (and more so when I was younger) I would check the back seat when I got in my car. Lol ya know just checking to make sure no one would pop up from back there while I was driving lol
