Being interested in a guy who is in a relationship: is it normal?

I met up with a friend few days ago at a party and I haven't seen him in years. He's great- funny, honest, caring... But he is currently in a relationship. After getting drunk we ended up hanging out after everyone went to bed and talked. He told me that the girl he is dating has been ignoring him and acts like she no longer cares about him. I told him about a relationship that I had not too long ago where I ended up not talking to my significant other for about two months. In the end we camped out in a tent and cuddled together telling each other what we liked about the other person.
Now here comes the hard part: what should I do.

Try to push her out of the picture 1
Be only a friend 5
"Misses steal your boi" 2
Wait until their relationship dies, then swoop in 11

    I'm more of a wait until their relationship dies. If you are real keen, convince him to pull the trigger on it. Just don't become the sleazy bitch that lets him screw you on the side, behind her back - you're worth more than that.

      Are they still sleazy if they didn't know he was in a relationship and he told them he was single and started dating them at the same time? That makes him sleazy right?

        Given your scenario - yes. That said, I've seen a lot of people "deliberately overlook" quite obvious signs that the person they are pursuing is already in a relationship - you know, the "You can't come to my place, err, because I need to clean" and the "Oh, I'd love to stay later than 10:00pm, but, err, I have work tomorrow" BS.

        I even had a woman once try and tell me "My husband is fine with it, we have an open relationship". Strangely, she wasn't at all keen on my meeting the guy and actually asking myself...

    First let me say i like how you have phrased the choices, catchy if i must say.
    Depends on what you want doesnt it. I'd go with miss steal your boi.Not only cause its funny but what the hell,what do you have to lose.
