Basing opinions off of status

When someone insults me I often take the insult based on their status. If they're 300 pounds and unemployed for years I could not care less what they call me. If theyre 35 living with their mom and their excuse is because the rich people arent taxed enough I dont care what they think. If it's someone whos smart and successful and says something like "you know what your problem is..." I do tend to listen. Their opinions seem to hold more value.

  • That just sounds stuck up and like you're not a very open minded, genuine person. People no matter their backgrounds can have good opinions. You don't know someones backstory from just looking at them, knowing how they live currently. For example there's homeless women who ended up that way finally breaking free from an abusive marriage, obese people who have an eating disorder due to abuse and trauma, adults living at home because they lost their job and apartment and doing their best to find a new one. I've met "successful" people who were assholes and had skewed opinions, usually because they're entitled and that's why people tend to dislike rich people because many who has been around them knows how they act. And there's poor people who are assholes too, because they're bitter about their situation. And vice versa. You miss out on a lot when acting like you're superior, refusing to hear people around you out. The kindest, most genuienly well liked (not well liked because they can provide status) and wise people in the world are those who take time to listen to and learn from everyone, making people feel seen and appreciated.
