Awkward silence

I'm not sure why they would be singled out in particular. They made offensive comments, certainly, but there's nothing new about that going on here. I ignored Steve and spick's comments for the most part. Darktown seemed to be a little more interesting to me so I started paying more attention to his comments within the past week. Honestly he didn't seem like a dumb troll, despite having very adverse opinions toward black people and a couple other things. But he also made comments that were actually kind of intelligible.

I didn't agree with dark's racial views at all, but I don't think users should be automatically banned for expressing their offensive ideals. If he was new (I can't tell who is new and who's an alt anymore because of all the chaos), he might have toned it down after a while. It's hard to say within such a short time span, but it seemed like he was beginning to do so already.

Many users express their unyielding opinions at full force when they first arrive and eventually settle down a bit, become more civil. That is one things we don't see much of here anymore that used to make this place so intriguing. If he was, in fact, using multiple alts to propagate his views, however, then perhaps that is the reason he was banned.

They should ban their IP addresses

Yes because when your account is disabled, meaning it has been deleted, it no longer exists and so your user name and password won't work. You can't log in to an account that has been banned. Disabled doesn't mean the password was changed. So you are completely misunderstanding what the FAQ is saying.

Everytime one of my accounts gets disabled I find out the way the FAQ sugguests, I try to log in and I can't even though I am using the correct user name and password. It is not because the password was changed, it is because the account no longer exists so there is nothing to log into.

I tried the link I shared with you on all the usernames you mentioned and they are all bad links, which means the accounts no longer exist, not that they have been repassworded. If there is another account that you have for which that link is working, you have forgot the password and you only need to send an email from the associated email account and you can recover it. Without knowing what account you are referring to that you think is still active, I can't check it, but you are welcome to do so. But I have had enough of my accounts banned to know how it works.

As to who gets banned, it is hard to say who deserves it. The moderators only look at thing that are reported and far more posts get reported than comments. Because you can't ever be sure who writes what posts there is very little way for us to know who does and doesn't deserve it. I can easily guess which posts have gotten me banned and I know I deserved it. Perhaps older users accounts last longer than mine do because they don't write posts that get them banned. So maybe it isn't favoritism, maybe you just last longer if you follow the rules.

Honestly, I really don't care one way or the other because as I said, it is not even a minor inconvenience to get banned and takes less than 30 seconds to correct. If I don't care if I get banned, why the heck would I care if someone else does or doesn't get banned. So even if they are playing favriotes, who cares? Banning on this site is a pointless exercise, so who the do and don't ban and way is all completely irrelevant.
