Art block?

I really have potential to do things with my artistic talents but I just get blocked all the time...Most of the time unless something happens by acident.

Its my love and what I've always considered a part of me...and when I see these ignorant kids going around like anime is the only art I just want TO SCREAM THEY HAVE NO TALENT!....but what can I back it up with? That I USED to be talented? ...I feel like there's nothing to me anymore. Is it normal to not be able to get back to where I once was with my art?

(P.S. I like anime but some of you people take it TOO far.)

Maybe you need a muse or something to inspire you, such as a person, a place with appealing landscape and scenery, etc.

You're probably going through a transition. I believe that artists (which can be writers, etc., anyone using their creative abilities) hit hard suck-points when their abilities are maturing. Don't force yourself, but nurture yourself by doing something, light-hearted, simple, and similar to your passion. You'll be amazed, but remember: It is a process NOT an event.

I'm in your exact position... I think there are many artists like us who can and have created really fantastic work... But we just have such unexplainable blocks towards art... It's incredibly infuriating!
Good luck to you and all who are experiencing this awful difficulty!

I feel your pain! Personally I find it the hardest to come up with designs, especially if the time is tight. My own advice is try to slow down, and keep experimenting. Let your creativity flow from there :)

I slowly begin to feel this happen to me often, will you get it back? Can't say,but if you truly love it then just keep trying.Or try to forget about it and remeber later on and then you can problably create something new. Also anime is one of the most tedoius and mass producing arts there is.I like it but It's getting shoved up the ass way too much for it's own good.

One of the first things they taught us at art school is if you come into class with manga, then you fail. Ease yourself into it. I've taken a 2 year hiatus from it. It just starts flowing naturally once you've had a break.

well, I draw manga/anime, but I just like they way it's done, and anime has some good storyplots. (I LIKE DRAGONS TOO) Make something that is visually appealing, anything you like. As long as it looks good to you, rite?
And yes this is normal. You're just a bit rusty, get back with it. If people don't appreciate your unique styling, just tell em off.

No need to compare art styles. Just have faith in the art that you create. There is beauty in everything and I am sure you will find the beauty within your own incredible talent and focus on that.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

if you look at it from an entertainment industry point of view.....anime is the flavor of the month, because it appeals to kids and they are the ones blowing their allowances like it grows on trees.

if you want a surefire way to make your art to be equal to or better than anime, make it appeal to teenagers.

To answer your question, yes it's normal imo.
