Are you prone to act or observe? be honest

People seem to think that it is someone else's job to respond in the case of an emergency. I have been in this situation and know many others including a woman who was raped.

wait to see if she makes it 8
get up and leave 3
yell 'life guard!!' 13
try to reach her from the wharf 7
jump in 19
hope she drowns 1
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I think I would wait for someone more able to do it for about 5-7 seconds tops, then I would go in after her. I don't think I could bare to watch or walk away from something like that.

IT depends, some could be in shock and others really not know what to do.

Always ask yourself this question, "what's in it for me?"

In my country "United Kingdom" there is no "Good Samaritan" law. If you save someone from drowning and they die, despite your efforts, you are legally responsible for their death.

I'd step in to help the losing side, in a dangerous situation, no matter the odds (street fight, domestic fight, rape, fire, drowning, car crash, large animals and natural disasters.) Even if I die, so be it.

Observe the situation to see if they are goofing or if they are really being hurt.

Drowning- I'm a strong swimmer but I'm not trained as a life guard so I dunno because a drowning person can pull you under with all that flopping, splashing and frantic grasping. I think I would need a flotation device. If it was a small child or a dog I would feel better about diving in but a big adult not so much.

  • Domestic fight - Don't be a hero.

Rape- I think I shall step in and stop that.

It honestly depends on the situation. Your post was kind of vague.

I tend to observe and get a feel of the situation before going in all guns ablazing.

I would only go and help if I felt I would be more of a help than a hindrance, the last thing I would want to do is make things a whole lot worse than it needs to be.

You did not answer my question, you merely censored me in hopes that my pointed question would go away.

You describe a rape, but your poll questions revolve around a drowning. Which is it?

    • How would you respond in a given situation.
      I gave a few examples.
I didn't believe you are being serious.
      If you are I apologize
      what is your point?
What I wrote originally is not all there

I was being serious but also being a wiseass. It's what I do.

In the case of a drowning, I'd try to find a flaotation device, get someone else to call 911 or raise the alarm somehow, and jump the fuck in. I'm a fair swimmer and keep a cool head in emergencies.

But like I said, you need to think out your wording better in your description since your poll choices seem to have nothing to do with them.

I can't say that I've ever been in that situation but I'd like to believe that I would act, even if it was doing something as simple as dialing 911.
