I was having a chat with a couple of people and I was stunned at the backlash I got for supporting hazing and even participating in it. Do you agree with hazing?

It is the pinnacle of human bullshit. If I want to hangout with a group of people either a) you allow to me join in or b) you turn me down. Cut the shit about hazing it is utterly pointless and can hurt people and not just physical. I have experienced hazing to a small extent but it honestly makes me want to act violent I can not stand human stupidity and indecency.
Well, this just stunned me into twenty minutes of total silence. You're back! I know we didn't really talk back then and you probably don't even know who I am, but I had the biggest crush on you I think I've ever had on someone I didn't know.
I know it's coming across a bit uncool to just blurt it out, but I'm not really that cool and I don't care about being cool.

As long as its not abusive, i don't see the issue with it. I've gone through it and done it.
What do you/they do that's not abusive? Just curious because people have died from that shit. Abusive stuff, obviously. Beaten to death, forced to drink so much they got alcohol poisoning and died. What other stuff is done that's not abusive?
Here's what I believe. Making fun of others should be done at a young age. That way they mature faster and realize that what others think doesn't matter. If it happens anytime after elementary school then it is not okay. Frankly I was tortured throughout my childhood, but in a way I thank my bullies for making me realize that words can't hurt me.
People can, and have, died from hazing. In the military a guy I knew was being hazed (to an intense level) and he nearly lost his mind because of it. Now do the math:
Man on the brink of insanity + access to military weaponry = watch out
He said he was so close to shooting every one of the guys who hazed him. It was because they hazed him by also preventing him from sleeping. That can really mess up your state of mind and had they not taken his gun away, he probably would have killed at least one person.
Hazing, for any reason, is stupid, dangerous, and not worth it.
what? lol hey i was as surprised as you when i saw this. but i guess im not the only one who thinks its fucking stupid and pathetic and should be stopped. abusing someone or "pranking" them is not a joke and can fuck a kid up for life. im not prepared to back something like that up knowing that some kids kill themselves over things like this.
hazing is pretty stupid. I guess if you're a kid there's some "fun" to it... or whatever you would call it.
Never been a fan of it though. Even as a kid. I just, I don't know. They're people. It's their life. Why make it miserable so you can have a laugh, ya know?
eh, i doubt anyone would agree but whatever, do what you want just don't impose anything other than happiness on someone.
Thats what hazing is supposed to be, just stupid stuff that doesn't hurt, people are projecting too much, of course it can get bad just like anything else, but the guy is obviously asking about the lame shit... which is what i think of it, i dont see a problem with those jokes except that they're stupid and boring, if people get beaten/killed then that's not hazing it's assault/murder .
Maybe that is what its supposed to be, but its not what its become. Its a lot more than just silly or nasty pranks. I've never known anyone to think hazing is anything other than cruel, embarassing punishment of sorts just to fit into and be accepted to a stupid club or gang or sororety. Its gotten way out of hand and people are fools to think its acceptable. If it was just jokes and pranks it would be fine, but its not.
