Are you emotionally involved with your work?

Do you find it normal to be emotional about your work? Work takes up a lot of our lives, its normal for us to be passionate about our duties or want to come in on time, right? Is it normal that work is the only kind of social interaction i can tolerate? But if its something i clearly only want to tolerate, why am i so emotionally motivated by work? Why so much passion for it?

Yes it is. For example, with writing you often have to become emotionally connected with a piece in some way. Your connection can be with anything from the characters, the plot, subject matter or all three. And like most careers, you have to be mentally involved with it.

I understand exactly how you feel!
I am not much of a socializer, and the less people I have to deal with, the better!
Work is also the only kind of socialization I can tolerate, yet I am very punctual and want my duties to be executed correctly by myself.
That part I don't find weird. I think it's a sense of pride in yourself and in your work, regardless of the fact that you "tolerate" being social :) And I don't feel there is anything wrong with that.
You have passion for yourself, not the work per say ;)

I usually spend half the day on the can cause I'm gassy. On the way there I intentionally walk by coworkers' cubes to fart cloud them.

I'm absolutely not passionate about my work. It just keeps me 'busy' all day long. I'm very happy when it's time to go home.

I try not to take it home, but it's really hard in my line of work.

Part of it in my case is self-interest. I have worked (in minor ways) on projects the whole world has heard of. I know I shouldn't be proud but it's impossible not to be. My input is tiny, but just being associated with big things is kind of exciting.

Parts of it, yes. Very much so. It's what makes me good at my job.

Passion certainly should go into making a sandwich!
