I've had this one friend for about five years. She lives on the east coast and I'm on the west coast. She is a better friend than most of mine here.
We are chill,love talking/texting/skyping.
It's nothing like I want to be with her. She's just really chill and we can trust each other.
Anyone else have friends like this?
My online friends believe I'm a body building chemist with a wife, 4 kids and a dog.

yeah.., sometimes it's better to have friends far from you to keep things annoying between you guys.., as you notice it, things gets easier if your not together. but the fact is.., friends who seems too far, didn't know who we are exactly as how our friends near us knows about us. but the good thing is that.., we are free from mis-understanding and too much affection that sometimes lead to hatred .., well not that exactly but assort of. so, if your happy with that.., continue that miles apart friendship. coz it feels better having a real friend even without seeing that person personally.., they are easy to ask, easy to talk and they really appreciates you in any way that you do. I really want a real friend.
Totally normal. Anybody can be friends regardless of distance. Y'all sound like me and my international friend. :)
that is kind of the case with me too, though I do not meet the friend online much anymore. I also think that this is the case because perhaps we are in our bet behavior when online and things may not be same in real life with that person.

I think your title would have been perfect for a poll honestly.
But I'm sure many people find it way easier to get to know someone online, I mean you mostly rely only on talking. Unlike with friends in real life, you can do activities and it's harder to share thoughts/feelings with them.
I say normal.
