Are you an idealist?

Especially with the internet and global communication these days, there are prominent voices talking about how crazy the world we live in is, and that we need a radical change.

Eg. People say populations go starving while there is an abundance of food elsewhere. Banks print essentially fake money whilst the population bails them out when things go bad. Governments serve the interests of an elite minority. Schools are incubators of dumbed-down mediocrity and indoctrination.

Maybe the whole system is completely screwed and needs an overhaul..?
Or maybe there are legitimate reasons for things to be this way and that's just how it has to be..?

How do you feel about any of this? Are people waking up to their enslavement, or is this all just bullshit?

      True to some extent,but not where human caused climate change is concerned. We need to balance all the negative stuff with the positive or we'll sink into apathy and despair

    You don't have to be an idealist to realize that we have economic bubbles close to bursting on a global scale. Might start when the Fed raises interest rates later this year.

    Maybe Trump can bring in some nationalism to keep the USA together in the rough waters ahead. Just be careful: there may come a time when the money in your bank account really is just a number.

        Let's clarify this. Jews live in Isreal. Isreal is not in Africa. And yes, you would be well advised to stay away from the USA. If you came here you would not be employable, nor eligible for the dole. You *might* be able to make less than minimum wage as a phone sex worker. You would not feel welcome.

        Only geniuses from other countries are offered the opportunity to make more money than they could get anywhere else in the world.

          I think you'll find jews live in all countries: israelis live in israel and other countries too.

          I'm not on the dole here, by the way, I'm on a pension which is not the same thing and anyway I have no intention of ever visiting the usa, even assuming I could ever afford to go overseas.

    I'm an optimistic realist, things do need to change and they can be changed, but you must always be careful not to forget that people are people. That's something that I think most idealists forget.

    Did you know if we quit eating cattle and pigs the grain we feed them would feed the world. And end drought in many areas because of the water they drink and the water it takes to grow crops to feed them.
    Saudi Arabia bought in Az. Or N.M. thousands of acres of land to feed their livestock and drilled deep water wells the farmers in the area are running out of water for their farms. And all the grain is loaded on to ships. None of it is sold here. I don't think any country should be allowed to buy American land.
