Are y’all actually freaking out?

I’ve come to realize that my 2 year old was sick with “flu-like” symptoms a month ago for several weeks. My sister was also out for a month, along with her 3 year old, for a month. I’ve heard of first hand complaints of the same PREVIOUS problems. No one tested positive for the flu even with “flu-like” symptoms.

What I haven’t heard of was people knowing ANYONE who has gotten ill since all the closers.

I don’t want opinions. I want to know if any of is it normal users who DIRECTLY know of anyone whose gotten this virus and where y’all are.

30 people in a nursing home have it in my town of 100k. I do not know them personally. I am in Washington and know a family with it, but they wont test because they are not critical. A friend's son in Florida likely has it but they won't test him either even though he was in the ICU for a day.

They aren't testing people. That is a problem.

This thing is everywhere. Stay home people! And wash your hands.

I know of a few people who tested positive for coronavirus. One is a coworker's cousin, my therapist and my friend's grandmother. I haven't been in physical contact with anyone other than my therapist but she probably got it after I met with her as she just started feeling ill and I haven't seen her in two weeks.

Still crazy though. My friend's grandmother is in bad condition from coronavirus but she was actually fairly healthy so hopefully she can get through.

Oh and I'm in New York.

My fiancée is a Chinese citizen living with me here in Russia. She was in the military and medical program so there’s a lot of fear of her being taken back to China to do medical work there.
Also her parents live in rural China, and we haven’t been able to get ahold of them for a while now, which makes us nervous because of the virus and quarantine.

My nephew who lives with me is immunocompromised which is /another/ reason for us to be very careful and worry that extra layer about the virus.

AND I work in border services where I’m constantly dealing with immigrants or people coming in from other countries.

Now that I think about it, I’m pretty closely effected in a lot of ways by the virus. Do I know if my fiancée’s parents are ill? We have no idea.

It’s recognition of knowledge of who is at risk and what occupations are effected or more vulnerable.

I had corona-like symptoms back in December/January.... fever, followed by 3 weeks of intense dry coughing. I got it shortly after eating at a Chinese restaurant in SF.

How many ailments produce flu-like symptoms? Symptoms are mostly useless in diagnosing except for ailments that produce unique ones.

Even when I had cellulitis, it started with flu-like stuff. Puking, upset stomach, fever.

    My observation -

Of all the fad ailments that come and go, I have never known a single person who had one. Even the hypochondriacs I have known only thought they might have it, of course they think they have every ailment out there.

No, I am enjoying having a reason for avoiding people and also not having to waste bus money. Nice break from life.
However i'm concerned people around me won't take the risks seriously, especially the men. The men overall seem to care less, but that isn't surprising to me. I know one whom i'd been dating who got a severe cold 2 weeks ago and is still sick but doesn't care and is planning to go to work asap again. Safe to say i'm not seeing him again though.
Personally i've been sneezing a bit and had an on and off headache but I mostly feel fine. I always get these types of symptoms in the winter/early spring and have no fever or anything else. Lots of energy, I even started exercising. Maybe I do have corona after all and it got to my head...

Do the math. 360k by world population of 7.5 billion.

.00005% of the population are affected like I said to ellena at the beginning it's a flu. Calm down

Only 360k because we are isolating. It would be in the millions had we not gone into isolation mode. There would have also been many more dead.

No way to know that is there. I deal in reality not supposition.

It's not supposition, it's called logic. Look at Italy for reference and that's AFTER they went full lockdown.

          Use your common sense.

Common sense. It affects .00005% of people. I mean you can ignore that if you want but it is a fact that you cannot argue. Do the math.

I would love to hear one person, one, argue against this.

Please educate me. I beg you. It is not a real threat. Everyone has lost their fuckin minds.

Even those who DO catch it are not likely to die. I agree with you about people losing their minds.

It just goes to show how stupid and paranoid a lot of people are.

HIV affects like .3% of the population yet people are often careless about their sexual activity.

Cardiovascular disease is THE number one killer yet people don't seem to care when they smoke or eat a horrible diet.

Yet something comes along that may be rough but not deadly to most and people lose their minds.

I was pretty sick a few weeks ago, cleared up quick tho. The panic that's going on is ridiculous. If you're not old or sick everyone's gonna be fine.

They're alternating saying this is a super serious world-ending disease because it spreads so easily and then saying people could have already gotten and recovered from it without realizing. Notice this is the literal ONLY thing any media outlet is talking about.
