Money, income, and inflation is out of control. I think the pandemic is just being used an excuse for bogus "supply issue" reasons, and companies are just hiking prices on food, housing, cars, etc, because there's enough people who make too much money and who foolishly spend it. They're renting studio apartments at a price intended for 2 working people with higher than average salaries. What couple who makes a higher than average earning wants to live in a tiny studio? Or who the hell is actually willing to spend near factory value for a 15 year old car with 100k miles on it? I've seen them going for nearly $30K! That's f-d up imo. I'm not saying "eat the rich" or whatever, but things are definitely not normal for.. well, normal people.

If by "normal", you mean "the same as before covid", no. People are still getting it, people are still getting hurt by it, and some people are still masking.

And yes, things have gotten worse, but that doesn't have anything to do with covid (unless you or someone close to you was directly affected by it). Things just slowly get worse over time in a society like ours.

Pfff people dying from sickness. What's new? Been saying this during covid. Just another sickness people got to be aware of. Not even weary of.

It's normal, crap society. Worlds not ending, staus quo all around.

In the long term ironically the black death was good for europe. It changed the status quo. With a third of europe being killed off you needed to incentivize workers to move from their vassal lands. It also drastically increases the baseline european resistance to plagues. So much so that they unwittingly had an op ability to wipe any culture that they met just by interacting with them.

America would of been harder to conquer if 90% of the native pop wasnt erased just by small pox, that the Europeans had a mild resistance to.

People only remember the successful genocides. The intenions were always there with everyone, back in the day

Quite the opposite. The most successful genocides generally dont get remembered. The ones that almost worked are the ones that are remembered for being horrific.

You're literally right, obviously the plethora of successful genocides go unnamed

If you take genocide on the smallest level, of just a group identity theres been hundreds of those that perished by another groups hands.

I mean how many tribes were conquered, destroyed, and assimilated forcefully into just the roman empire? This is without going further where you would have prehistory tribes killing eachother to such an extent that we have exivations of a couple hundred left hands taken as proof of death toll.

It's only now that we have the tools to rapidly kill off way more people did a genocide scale up from a tribe or cults to entire ethnicities.

It is only now that we have the tools to view the tribes that were killed off with primative tools.

Is there really any difference between 2023 and 2019? I think they look exactly identical.

We are back to normal. Is 2023 different than 2019? Yes. But 2013 was different than 2009. 2003 was different than 1999. 1993 was different than 1989…

I think if we invest in our kids USA still looks to be the worlds #1 superpower and global leader for the distant future. China needs Taiwan to secure that spot and its unlikely to get it in time to matter. China has been lurking in the shadows growing but now the west has decided to move its manufacturing away from China because they see they could be a problem in the future. Their economy depends on us buying their stuff. They also have a issue with their population about to be cut down by half in the next 50 years.

Then we will be circling the time where china HAS a military to conquer stuff. So for Taiwan it's now or never.

It's in americas best intrest to handicap non democratic countries. If china played ball like the rest of europe we wouldnt see a need to take away their ability to use our chips. China using slave labor to cut their prices is ethically wrong and taking away american jobs so we got the moral high ground for objectively good reasons.

Plus two birds we got india in a major pissing match with China so we can reliably bet they will help out in a conflict if we "correct" their border with China. So their numbers advantage wont even be an advantage for long.

Plus china will be down 2 million people because of covid.

I say the odds are in the west's favor.

Define normal? World has seen worse time in 1910s, WW1 had enormous death toll 1914-1918, then the Spanish Flu lasting from 1918 to 1920 killed over 80 million in just 2 years, that was huge given in 1920 world population was barely 1 billion by 2020 it reached 8 billion due to medical advancement that eradicated deadly diseases like small pox (said to have killed 500 million between 1900-1980 when it was eradicated after mass vaccination campaign alone). After the cold war ended in 1991, the world seen a very peaceful time from 1992-2019 until the Covid Pandemic. Its just like how peaceful the world was after the Napoleonic Wars ended in 1815, and other than the Crimean war 1816-1913 was a peaceful era, especially during the Victorian age. Get used to changes, though I hope things return to peace and Russia has no right to attack a sovereign nation like Ukraine!

Technically we are in the most peaceful time in history. No more big wars (besides Ukraine russian proxi war)

Since proxies mitigate bigger wars into smaller ones.

Russia says they are fighting nato. When in actuality they are just fighting nato equipped Ukrainians. Because nato is afraid that russia is so weak that if they had to fight, russia would have to use nukes.

Difference would be for taiwan china war. Where tiawan would 100% have to be supported by boots on the ground. That would be a big ass war. One less country (russia) would make it easier.

Actually the most peaceful time would be the post Napoleonic War Victorian Era , 1816-1913, yes stuff like Crimean War, the Civil War and colonial rule happened but it was not always a state of war and people were peaceful outgoing and enjoyed actual physical activities like hunting, fishing various sports like soccer started emerging, and literature was rich. Yes diseases like Tuberculosis existed and people died, but population was under control at 1 billion and if you compare the current population to death ratio it will be the same, and new diseases have emerged now that did not exist in the past (anthrax, hiv, covid, etc). Then tehre are ISIS terrorists and all in current time killing people, refugee crisis. The colonial rule in India in 19th century today Indians acknowledge the Brits did a lot of good for them introduction modern education and health care, building rail roads and all. And authors like Charles Dickens, RL Stevenson and all wrote their classic, Literature was at its best since Shakespearian time in the 16th century. Times of turmoil and times of peace both existed in the past, 1816-1913 was generally peaceful excluding the Crimean war and the civil war in the 1850s and 1860s respectively, likewise 1992-2019 was a time of peace (even tho there were stuff like Yugoslavian War , ISIS terrorism and genocides and all), but 2020 onwards things are breaking and world economy is also receding, its at its worst since the 1930s lets hope for the best.

I think the world has already ended, Jesus said you don't know when the world will end, with you denying it ended in the process. I think it's normal all throughout history to have a pandemic, the Spanish flu was present long ago and generations passed as an attempt to end the world, but coronavirus was literally the end of the world, we're left behind and everyone else is in heaven. Things weren't back to normal during 2020, but I think things still aren't back to normal, even though coronavirus is over the whole world denies this.

The Spanish Flu killed 80 million in 1918 alone, Covid is nothing to it!

So you think Spanish people are the equivalent to the flu?

But you're using. I didn't come up with the term faggot but if I were to use it I would be a homophobe. So this is proof that you hate spanish people. You should be disgusted with yourself.

It was just called the Spanish flu, I don't know why it's called that, bad use of words, I should've known your type, I actually love Spanish people, I wanted at some time to make olives with sweet peppers, and it's not stealing from the Spanish, it's recipes altered from the original and if you went to Spain saying it's Spanish they'll laugh at you.
