Are these normal period symptoms? should i see a doctor?

Hey, obviously this is embarrassing so I didn't want to bring it up to my mom or friends but I have a lot of problems during my period that I do't know if others have too and just keep quiet about it.

Starting off with the cramps, when I was younger and first started my period I never really had to worry about the cramps. It just felt like a slight stomach ache, nothing that stopped me from doing normal activities. Now as I am older (almost 19) the cramps feel like they have gotten much worse and each month seems more painful than the last. It's a really strong pain that can come in waves and it's just horrible. It tends to prevent me from doing things like going to work or school cause all I can do it crawl up in a ball in my room in pain

I also get diarrhea every time in on my period, it gets really bad where it feels like I need to use the bathroom every 30-60 minutes. This also prevents me from going to work/school cause it's embarrassing to be running back and forth from the bathroom constantly.

Along with the diarrhea I get rather "pukey" feeling. I eat much smaller meals otherwise I get an upset stomach and I constantly feel "stuffed" like I just ate a gigantic meal when in fact I haven't.

This along with the regular symptoms; mood swings, fatigue and general PMS. I just wonder if others experience the stomach problems and intense cramps like I do. And what should I do about it?

That's terrible and not normal. I think you should go to and ask a doctor.
Your period shouldn't stop your normal life.

Pretty much what my periods were like before I began taking the pill. Much better since :)

It sounds like you need to go see a doctor. The doctor'll know and help you.

Don't think that is normal and it sounds awful :( I would see a dr if I were you. Maybe they can put you on the pill (if you aren't already on it) to regulate your hormones a little better and make sure you don't have something else going on.

Do you take something for the pain and it still hurts that much?

    • I take general pain relievers like ibuprofen and such. I've suggested taking midol but my mom won't let me cause she says it's not good for my stomach lining

Your period might change overtime. It might get worse or better depending. I also heard that exercise and diet effects how your period happens. So you might want to look into that.
