    • What about a conservative liberal "national socialist" atheist Hindu?

No, 'national socialism' conflicts with my 'socialist national' views.

The internet attracts younger people, who are more likely to be socially liberal than the wider population.

If you use the internet then you're more likely to be exposed to people who are a different race/sexuality/economic class/religion etc. than if you don't, which will make you more socially liberal.

On IIN you often see things like sexuality discussed, and the sort of site that talks about that sort of thing is going to attract more socially liberal people.

    Just my immediate thoughts :)

EDIT: Obviously there's going to be a lot of exceptions :P

    • So you believe in a guy that lived 2000 years ago and did magic tricks. I think you're bonkers.

Yes I believe in a Guy who lived some 2000years ago and did MIRACLES.

        • So you believe in magic (a k a miracles) without direct evidence.
If you were in a jury, in a court of law, could you convict someone (thus sentencing them to life or the gallows) without evidence?
So you would be able to believe what Scientologists do - that our ancestors came from another planet whose overlord was Xenu, the tyrant ruler of the "Galactic Confederacy", if your parents and many others in your culture also did?
That's also a belief without evidence that lots of people subscribe to.
You're brighter than that and you don't need a man in the sky to guide you about what's right and wrong. I know it's right to love my neighbour because I evolved as an animal with two powerful instincts: altruism as well as self-preservation, which are not necessarily mutually exclusive. I encourage you to look up the philosophies of Jean-Jacques Rousseau on Wikipedia. (18th century French philosopher). Also Schiller.

Yes I believe without direct evidence and I'll continue to believe. That is what is called faith. I know that more and more young people dislike religion and I don't understand. If our religion makes us happy, if it makes us see things differently, if it gives us a sense of belonging to a group, if it gives up courage when we feel weak then it's a great.

      • "Do I believe in myself?" is another way of asking, "Do I have hope?". Without hope, depression sets in. Right now I have hope, so yes, I believe in myself.

The net is socially liberal because it's full of
      1. young people
      2. consumers of porn

The net doesn't have a personal opinion. But you'll find the most extreme political views of all kinds on here. Sometimes talking to people on the internet feels like time traveling. Like I'm directly connectet to some german guy from the 40s or a medieval inquisitor.

    • Hmmm. I've read many a Valkeer post. You're wise, articulate, intelligent, intellectual. But people are full of surprises. 90% of the members of the National Academy of Science are atheists, so in other words, there are some incredibly bright believers out there. And there are some very bright conservatives. So I really couldn't say.
