Are people watching me?

Ok, does anyone ever get the feeling they are being watched from their webcam? For example, I mean, like if you're on facebook or yahoo or so and so. I am paranoid that people get onto my computor and watch me. I dont have a little light that tells me if its on or not. so if im getting dressed or something I always close the lid on my pc. Is this normal?

It's a normal feeling to have once in a while, but unless you're a hot chick that sits nude in front of your computer, you have nothing to worry about.

I get that creepy feeling too. That's why I cover mine with blue tack.

I used to be paranoid about it. I just put some tape over the web cam. lol. Problem solved.

Haha. I think it is normal. The other day my roommates webcam was pointed in my direction so I moved it even though I was pretty sure that no one was watching me or anything.

  • In order for someone to employ the technology to "watch" you, they would need to have your IP address. If you can stealth your IP Address and actually hide it from the website that you are on where you think you are being watched, you would close the door to that possibility. If you think your computer is hijacked by some sort of software that watches your what you do, you can do a few things to make sure:

[1] go to command prompt and type in, cmd
in the command prompt type: netstat -a
This should show you EVERYTHING that is running
    on your computer.
[2] hit CTRL, ALT, DEL to see what programs are running
[3] visit Steve Gibson's site for "Shield's Up" to see
if you have any ports open to hackers.

If you find that your computer system has issues, I would recommend that you visit: "CrossLoop" and employ one of the Help Desk Technicians there to help you get rid of viruses and malicious programs on your system and to fortify your computer's security defenses.
