I find it easier to tell male singers apart from each other than female singers, because there is more variety, it seems.

Haven't heard many female singers really, only bands/artists I can remember are Battle Beast, Nightwish, Tarja Turunen, Belly, and a couple of other bands that don't have guttural vocals. I feel like female vocals can have wider ranges and definitely a different feel to the male voice, but here's the catch: There's not really variety in the voice itself.
I'm yet to find a woman with the depth of Johnny Cash's voice or with the whisky-soaked clean raspiness of Mark Lanegan's voice or with the high falsetto of Axl Rose.
There's probably some women artists who do and I'd like to hear them, but the truth is that most of the time it's just feels generic to my ears.
I've noticed this too. Maybe men are just more known to sing in a different variety of genres compared to women?
Not true most male singers I listen to has incredible range and can pull off many genres.
It tends to be men. Men have a lower natural pitch yet can often reach way higher than this pitch via falsetto whereas there's little that can be done for anyone to go too much lower than their natural pitch.
Woman are of course capable of using falsetto as well and tend to be able to hit the highest notes humanly possible, but all the same the difference between this ceiling and their resting pitch tends to be less profound than the difference between a man's much deeper resting pitch and his falsetto even if his falsetto doesn't go quite as high.
Actually that was found to be men. I mean when range was tested amongst famous singers at least.
Honestly, I find myself listening to almost exclusively male singers. And it's not like a crush er anything [I'm Demisexual], and its not a gender thing anyway [I'm Pansexual]. So, I don't know why I'm like that.
These days yes. In the 40’s female singers like Helen Forrest were sultry and classy. Today they holler, like Adele.
Male professionals are better at almost anything. Womens tend to be somewhat good.
I listen to very few female singers.
Men tend to experiment with genres a lot more it seems, I guess women experiement with music too but to a lesser degree and in less interesting ways. Like all indie female singers I come across all sing in the exact same way and have the exact same image with minor variations.
I mean one band I listen to put out 5 albums in one year exploring different sounds and genres. That's the kinda freaky quality shit i'm into
I kinda prefer female vocals for pure music enjoyment. Their voices are like running a wet finger around the rim of a crystal glass
I do listen to male vocalists, but for me they're less refined and more bold, like as an overall theme. Some are different though, like as soft voiced singers
