They are just steryotypes so it doesn't apply to everyone. You will rarely have a 'good' and 'bad' person, most people are just a mixture of inbetweens

There is no such thing as good either.
And there is no such thing as smartness either.
The way I see it: Smartness is simply the ability to survive and thrive in a particular given environment regardless of what you have to do.
Not survive as an individual of course...
    survive as a kin.
That makes a whole lot of difference.
So,who's considered dumb,or even dangerous to himself and others,is basically a person:
OUT OF PLACE,who didn't adjust the best way he could to the environment he found himself having to live in.Not because he didn't want to,because he couldn't.He simply ain't got what it takes. And that of course is whoever came before him failure.Who assumed he would be capable of or have to adjust to,an environment that never suited him. Thus causing his demise.
Dooming him to fail. And die out.
    Crazy horse has spoken.

Not being caught by the cops is not a sign of goodness. The Zodiac killer was never caught.

I try to be a good person and I'll let people walk all over me. But only once. When they do that, they've told me who I can trust and who I can't.

Everyone gets a chance, though. Even if they look like they don't deserve it.

I think that is smart. Trust once to really get to know the person.

  • I don't think there are 'good' or 'evil' people, just people who make either positive or negative decisions.

Yes there is, we're born evil, just given the path to choose good.

  • i think its dumb to be evil so they are automatically chucked in the stupid pile. the good are smart enough not to be evil...

I like to think that I'm a good person. I also like to think that I'm not stupid! But maybe because I trust people too much, that does make me stupid? I'm now confused. And because I'm confused I must be stupid! Maybe it is true...?

Maybe what's stupid is to trust.

I've always thought that knowing who to trust is a big part of "intelligence". I think it's impossible to get anywhere without trusting anybody at all, the key is in judging who can be trusted and who can't.

As an example, even by walking down the street you are trusting the people walking next to you not to mug you, but you'd have to be in a terrible state if you decided to stay inside all day because you weren't able to trust your fellow man not to mug you. You have to trust those people or you'd never leave the house. Trusting them is sensible. It's sensible because the risk of being mugged is, in most places, low, and the rewards relative to staying indoors, jobless because you can't trust a boss to pay you your wages each month and starving because you can't trust the grocery store not to poison you, are great rewards.

How much you trust someone is down to calculating the risk versus the reward and how risky you want to be. If you refuse to trust anyone then you strike out the possible risk of them hurting you, but you also strike out the possible reward of them helping you. You stay relatively stagnant. You can make faster progress in life by judging well who to trust (those who will help you) and those you cannot (those who will hurt you). That in itself requires an element of risk because you can never know who might abuse your trust, but if you don't take that chance and start trusting people you're just like the man sitting inside all day too afraid to step out into the streets. I wouldn't ever aspire to be that man.

And that's only a purely selfish perspective. If you believe in the existence of altruism (as I do and - I suspect - you possibly don't), then you believe that people sometimes do things for the benefit of other people in spite of themselves. An intelligent altruistic person might see it as intelligent to trust someone who may not deserve trusting, even if it might well harm themselves.

Even if it were true that trusting is stupid, I'd *much* rather be stupid and able to trust people than intelligent and unable to trust at all.

Trust at least once in almost everybody, then.

You may be thinking of doormats r people with no self-esteem, not necessarily good people in general. I'm a good person in general, but no one takes advantage of me and I make my own way.
